Section 75 help

Hi
I purchased 4 sets of kitchen led lighting which are modular and where purchased to go in as a single unit, they are faulty and the retailer refused to help, so I submitted a section 75 to Halifax, they have refused it stating that the individual items are less that £100, (4 packs at £35 ea) is this the correct interpretation of s.75 I would have thought that as the transaction was for 140 it would be covered
Thanks

No, that's correct - the overall value of the transaction is irrelevant, each individual item must be over £100. But if the lights are genuinely faulty, then the Sale Of Goods act will cover you. If the retailer is playing silly wotsits then it may be worth a quick call to your local CAB who should be able to advise you how to proceed. Assuming the lights are fairly new, and have developed a fault within a "reasonable" timeframe, then the retailer really doesn't have a leg to stand on.0

Consider chargeback as an alternative to section 75 if you're still within 120 days of purchase and the retailer isn't playing ball.0
