Applying for a first credit card whilst employed on a zero hours contract.

in Credit cards
To expand upon the thread title, I have never had a credit card before, but I feel like it's about time I start to build some sort of credit file. My plan is to apply for a credit building card (Barclaycard Initial or Tesco Foundation, probably), use it for a few basic monthly purchases and pay it off in full.
I am currently on a zero hours contract in NHS admin and can be given placements lasting from 4 weeks to 18 months of full time work. My contract states that I am 'regarded as a permanent member of staff with no minimum hours of work. This will at all times remain a zero hours contract.' It also states a salary per annum pro rata to the number of hours worked.
Do you think I would be accepted for a credit card whilst employed in this way? Am I committing fraud by saying I am in Full time employment and giving my maximum hypothetical wage on an application form?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but like I said, I'm completely new to Credit Cards.

You would be asked to give your current earnings probably in the form of annual earnings, I would therefore answer the question by telling them how much you earnt in the last 12 months, IIRC it will ask if you are working or not, so the answer is yes.
Have you considered applying for a "normal" cc via your own bank?0
