missed first payment on c.card!
Hi guys. Just want a bit of advice. I managed to get a Barclaycard "initial" c card purely to transfer a balance off my old extremely high APR vanquis card which has now been cancelled :) . I set up the direct debit over 2 weeks before the first payment was due and had it confirmed on the Barclaycard website by a small…

Question about credit rating :)
HI, just stumbled across this forum so I'm a new user. I have a poor credit rating, I'm poor at managing my accounts etc and have gone over my credit limit on a number of occasions. My question is, when I eventually pay off my credit cards etc, will this still leave me with a poor rating? If so how do I then go about…

Does a Paypal transaction count towards the Halifax Clarity/Rewards £300 threshold?
I'm looking to buy something for about £120 from an overseas supplier and I can either pay direct by creditcard or Paypal. I'm tempted to go with Paypal because of the additional protection. Would this count as a purchase or as a money transfer if I funded the Paypal account through my Halifax rewards card?

Experian Debt Percentage.
Hi Guys, I've just had a look at my % available debt, according to Experian. They say it is at 57%. This has come down very steadily in the last few months. How do they come up with this figure? My current debt level is around £11k, with savings of around £7k and an annual salary of just over £50k if that all helps :)…

American Express exposure limit
Sometimes I think American Express is crazy, they let me spend more than my reported annual income just in this one month. Sometimes I wonder if an exposure limit exists haha. I guess the advantage with charge cards is you can spend a lot more than you would be able to on a credit card. Does anyone else have any experience…

Credit Card Refusal
I applied for a Tesco Credit Card. I normally use my JL Partnership card for all Credit Card transactions but think earning Tesco Points may be better than the JL vouchers so thought I'd get a Tesco card and cancel my partnership card. Anyway, I've been turned down for a Tesco Card, when I asked why (I always pay my…

Using Credit Card to pay off Balloon Payment
Three years ago I bought a car on PPI (I know it works for some, but I think we made a mistake - hindsight!). We're now at that stage of deciding what to do next - handing it back, trading it in or keeping it. We've decided to pay the balloon payment (£6,400) and keep the car. We don't have the full lump sum needed (sigh)…

Employment status while training
Hi guys, I'm currently on a full time integrated pilot training course. I want to apply for a Nationwide Select credit card for free foreign transactions. I just gave it a try with my status listed as unemployed, and an income of £2000 (interest on savings.) It gave me a quote but then after I clicked next it said I didn't…

Used 'bad credit' card for a while, what next?
In terms of finances as a youth I was a plum, years followed when I couldn’t get credit. I’m sure you’ve heard the story before. I dread to think what my credit score was at it’s lowest. Several years past and approaching my late 30’s I thought it really was time I did something about it. I got my report, got a couple of…

Refunded Twice!
Hello I purchased something on my credit card and returned it but the place I bought it from had not refunded my card a few months later so I wrote to the credit card company and they refunded me themselves. A few months later I got the actual refund from the company I bought the item from. I have waited about 6 months…

Paying off your statement with a bank transfer?
I have a Halifax One credit card. I'd like to have the option of simply making an online bank transfer to pay off my credit card statement, but after looking into it they seem to only allow it is you pay from a Halifax current account and not just any old bank account, as my main bank account is with Natwest. But I'm sure…

Late fees from Virgin Money (MBNA Europe)
Hi everyone My first post - I was so angry I had to let you all know! I have a number of debts that last year, after a bout of illness that meant I had to leave my well-paid job, I fell behind with. I was in the process of setting up an IVA with CCCS. However, in November 2011 I got a new job and was able to resume my…

Credit Card - Basic Explanation Needed
I will start by apologising for this post, as I should have really found this out before I started using my credit card. I got given a credit card as part of my Natwest Student account 3 years ago. I didn't use it for about 18 months, when my parents suggested I used it and pay it back in full each month to build up my…

Hi all I have just applied for two credit cards, yet been rejected on them both. My credit history is good - I have some savings (albeit very minimal at the moment), a mobile phone contract and 1 credit card. The credit card has a £600 limit (£200 currently free) and I was applying for another credit card as the current…

Should I wait till my fixed 3 year mortgage ends
I am coming to the end of my 3 year fixed rate mortgage. Should i go to my bank now and try and get a better deal or should i wait till the 3 year deal has completely ended. It finishes in november 1st 2012. Would waiting till it finishes give me better bargaining with the bank at getting a better rate. I have £60000 left…

Correct credit card usage - settle an arguement!
Ive never really known how to correctly use a credit card to "up" my credit score. I understand that the card should be paid off fully every month but when do I pay? Do I wait until the bill has been created and then pay off the whole lot in the time provided or is it ok to keep paying off bits (£20 or whatever I have at…

Paying off Credit Card Purchases Quickly - Restores Credit?
Hello, I'm going abroad in a few weeks and done my research into the BEST option for spending (best exchange, lack of fees etc). I don't want to be carrying a large stack of cash around New York with me and of course Hotels and Car Hire like to take card details. So I have applied for the Aqua Reward Credit Card... I…
