Paying off Credit Card Purchases Quickly - Restores Credit?

Hello,

I'm going abroad in a few weeks and done my research into the BEST option for spending (best exchange, lack of fees etc).

I don't want to be carrying a large stack of cash around New York with me and of course Hotels and Car Hire like to take card details.

So I have applied for the Aqua Reward Credit Card...

I already have the money in my Lloyds account that should cover any purchases while I'm out there (Flights/Car/Hotel all paid for), but my anticipated credit limit will be £250, this is fine for maybe 1-3 days???

So what can I do to allow myself to continue using the card whilst away?
I've heard pre-loading is a no-no.
If whatever I spend throughout the day I then transfer the relevant funds to the credit card that evening, will that restore my credit limit for use the next day?

Thanks for your help.

Unlikey to be reliable. Probably will take a least a few days before you can respend on the card again. Plus if you try to use for hotels and car hire they often put a pending transaction on the account that would be higher than your limit.

I would certainly ensure you take other options with you, even if thats debit cards or a prepaid credit card with slightly higher fees. Though I have believe some people have had issues with car hire and prepaid cards.

  • Hmm, I literally only just applied for it. Do you reckon there is any hope for me pleading with the company to allow a higher limit?

I feel I may have confused the issue by providing the address for my 2nd house, tbh Im not sure where I'm registered on the electoral roll, does this make a world of difference in credit limit and upon contacting the card company would I be able to change my address details to help the situation at all?

Their payments page sugegst that it takes 3 days for funds to reach your account if you pay by internet or telephone banking, but they also state that they accept faster payments.

It would be worth giving them a ring to check when faster payments are credited to your account, and when your availible balance is adjusted as whilst it may credit your account on the same day, your balance may not update until the day after.
