Credit reports
My partner, who lives with me, but with whom I have never had a financial association has recently been turned down for a credit card. Her credit rating must be sky high because her finances are, and always have been, spot on. Mine sadly, have not, and my credit rating is poor. It's clear that they've checked my credit…

Horwich Farrelly/ Robinson Way
Can anyone give me some advice? I had Robinson Way contact me early this year to say I owe £550.00 from 2000. They said I made a payment of £10.00 in 2009 and that they now wanted the outstanding. I wrote to them asking for proof of payment and how it was paid, they replied saying they couldn't show me proof of payment but…

£20,000 debt
Me and my partner are currently in £20,000 debt over 6 credit cards. Only one of them is on interest free. We are currently paying around £700 in minimum payments. Ive looked at a loan over 5 years and we would pay about £400 a month which obviously would be a fantastic saving. Another thing we have to worry about is that…

Credit card balance transfers - Think I got it wrong
OK. Got a Barclaycard which I use sometimes. Pay off the bill every month. I got a 0% balance transfer to it for £2000. I thought that OK, say the bill is £3000 (i.e. £1000 spending) I'll pay off the £1000 every month leaving me with the £2000 at 0% so no interest? I thought because of the way payments go now it would pay…

Why do we get charged for paying by CC?
Hi I've just paid a charge of £58 on paying a holiday by credit card (mastercard). This has made me wonder why do we get such (seemingly) ridiculously high charges? Regards R

M&S Credit Card PremiumClub
Is it worth having any more? I've had a letter to say my monthly fee is increasing to £15 pm up from £10 in September which to me seems like a hefty increase in the present financial climate. In the past i've thought that the annual travel insurance (which I used and found excellent) plus the other additions made it good…

Capital One Application
Hi all, I have really bad credit, but I wanted a card to help rebuild my credit, so would just use the card for food shopping and pay it off in full each month. Last week, I applied online for a capital one classic credit card, and it got me to electronically sign the agreement and said we will be conducting further checks…

Using credit cards instead of loans
Hi, I'm investigating ways to finance a planned new kitchen that would cost approximately £4500 Looking at loan costs I think I would be better off using a credit card, either with 0% on purchases for as long as possible and then transferring or using a low rate for life card that would be cheaper than the cheapest loans.…

Capital One Withdrew Credit Facility
OK this may be a tad long, apologies if so. Through illness and resulting unemployment a few years ago I was on the credit rating black list. I've since been carefully paying everything off, trying to rebuilt my rating. As I've paid off a lot of things in the past year I thought I'd try and see if I could get the Capital…

M&S card criteria? Stricter than others?
Hiya I just applied for an M&S 0% card. Hubby and I have decent salaries, a very large mortgage (but have never missed payments) and no other debts. M&S turned me down as I didn't meet their credit score requirement. Are they particularly strict, if so can anyone suggest an easier 0% card to get please? I am going to check…

Can you use a CC to pay off OD
Hi, Sorry I am a newbie, maybe a silly question, but just been sent my new 0% for 2 years on BT by Barclaycard. I have transfered over my other credit card but have an OD with BoS that charges me £30 a month interest (or one pound a day). I have two questions, if I were to walk into BoS and ask to close down the account…
