BT charging for using Debit Card to pay bill
I have just been charged £5.40 by British Telecom as a payment processing fee for paying my telephone bill in full using my Lloyds TSB Debit Card. Anyone know if this is legal? I always understood that paying by debit card was the same as paying cash as the recipient gets the money deposited into their bank account…

Credit card with zero balance - keep it or close it?
Hello again experts - I've a credit card with a surprisingly large credit limit (and large interest rate too!) which I never, ever use, and do not plan too. In fact I think I've forgotten the PIN. It seems like the polite thing to do is close it and forget about it, but someone mentioned that keeping it open might be good…

LloydsTSB Credit card services attempt to push interest up by 5%. Check your account
About a week ago I received 60 days notice on my LloydsTSB credit card service. They WERE putting my interest up by 5% from 19.4% to 24.4%. Now I'm not adverse to companies changing their borrowing terms, that's fine (as long as they give you notice). However, this also covers money previously spent rather than money you…

Balance Transfer Warning
In January, I took the opportunity of an interest free offer from Hilton HHonors card run by Barclaycard. I had already made a purchase of a product of just over £3,300 on another card, and decided to make the transfer so I could pay off the amount interest-free over 9 months. There was a small arrangement fee, but that…

What's the best way to pay off "petty debt"?
I have credit with 3 different companies all around £400 each. It's petty money I know, but as I'm no longer working (temporary) I'm finding it difficult to pay off any significant amount and I don't want to damage my credit rating by trying to negotiate with them, I just want to pay it. I have around £20 a week free to…

Halifax - One flat interest rate......be afraid
Using similar language to their 'simple overdraft charges' HBOS are evening out their interest rates for Credit Cards - ala the Clarity Card. Now given that cash withdrawals tend to be a good 10 percentage points higher than purchases it's entirely feasible to assume that Halifax is going to put the APR up a couple of…
