Available credit??

Hello
I just got my new Clarity Halifax CC , activated it last night and changed the PIN this morning. I juut placed an Ocado delivery for this Thursday and used this CC to pay for it. The money will not be taken until the delivery is completed, but I just checked my online banking and saw that my available credit is now... 4,499... when my credit limit in this card is 4,500.
Any clues as to why this shows like this? This is the very first transaction I do on this card...

Thanks,

Ax

Did you go through "Verified by Visa" or "Mastercard Secure"?

These sometimes do a tester transaction of £1.

Some companies like Asda have been reported as doing a test transcation for the full amount when doing home shopping.

Although it is a test transcation and the money doesn't actually leave the account (it's in a holding account between bank and company), the money isn't available either.

This has meant that some people have no money until the test transcation gets put back into the account, which can take a week or more.

Think of it a as a preauthorisation on your card a lot of company will hold the balance on the card and others just a small amount to ensure the card is valid etc.

    You probably missed this...
3.3 Authority for payment will be requested from your card issuer at the time of your order. This is done by 'reserving' £1 against the card you have used for payment....
