Barclaycard warning..

Just went to the trouble of applying for a Barclaycard after being offered 12months 0% on balance transfers... so I could then clear my £500 balance from my Thomas Cook Credit card..

Then the website would not allow the transfer.. after 8 calls to an Indian call centre trying to find someone who could actually understand what I was talking about I contacted a UK branch. After a 15 minute wait I was told Thomas Cook Card is a partner of Barclaycard and balance transfers aren`t allowed.

I now have to transfer to my Capital one with a 3% fee so I can then transfer it over to the Barclaycard for ANOTHER 2.7% fee.

I checked the T&C`s on Barclaycard and it states no balance transfers between other Barclaycards.. Says nothing about Thomas Cook basically being a Barclaycard.

This has cost me an extra transfer fee and about 40minutes of 08444 phone calls.

So called modern service :mad::mad:

    Yes, Barclaycard like many other card issuers have a number of different credit cards using different brands.

    Avoid this problem in future by checking here.

    It allows you to input your existing credit card and then only show you those balance transfer cards by a different issuer.

    Mate calm down you were transferring £500 blo0dy quid not 10k, and also you only have yourself to blame for not checking who underwrites the Thomas cook card in the first place.

    It'll tell you on your Thomas Cook card credit agreement...the very first line will probably say something like "This is a consumer credit agreement between you and Barclaycard Ltd".

    They perhaps assumed you'd already know who ran your card?
