I have just begun to read into this subject and wondered what everyone's thoughts, advice and/or recommendations are. I have a poor credit history, but i am trying to sort all finances out (alot of the debt was hubby's but i'm not lilly white either!)...and as far as i know i have sorted out most debts, re:repayment plans…

Just received my new A&L credit card this morning. In the T&C's,it said "a 2% fee for balance transfers MAY apply" Do i have to ring them and speak to an advisor to negotiate the fee? I don't really want to do a SBT into my account only to find a charge of £200 Thanks in advance for any answers.

Watch Out For This Pitfall With Barclaycard Balance Transfer
Just fallen foul of an interesting little 'gotcha' from Barclarycard that I thought I would share with everyone. Barclaycard were offering a 0% BT rate for a few months on my card so I decided to take advantage of it to finance the deposit on a house I am buying. As I was using my Barclaycard for purchases, I ensure I…

Closing a CC A/C query...
Hi I have had a Barclaycard since 1997 and plan to close it due to non-use (uncompetitive) - should I? It has a relatively low limit (1350k, my total limits are about 10k (well, 4k more on Natwest but they don't record it anywhere), salary around 60k) but has two status 1-2 in last 36months - should I leave it open until…

CIFAS a problem?
Hi On checking my credit report I find that my address (not my current one though - but the one that I registered with CreditExpert with and haven't got round to telling them has changed) has been added to the CIFAS list (thanks "Mr Shohid Ali"!!). Should this be on my credit report anyway, considering it is not in my name…

NatWest won't take payment on phone.
Tried to pay off my credit card bill today, it's not late, but thought I'd do it on the phone as I wanted to ask a question as well. The natwest bloke took all relevant details and numbers and concluded the business. About 5 mins later he rang back to say natwest couldn't take payments over the phone unless it was a late…

Sainsburys c/c help needed.
I'm new to the credit card game, so a little naive to how it all works! I've just applied for the Sainsburys card which offers 0% on purchases for 12 months. I'm planning on buying something for £1500 and then pay it off with 4 monthly installments. Does the 0% on purchases bit mean that I won't incurr any interest charges…

AMEX Charge Cards.....Is there any benefits?
All, I've got a new Egg card for Balance transfers, and ordered a Platinum Amex credit card for chashback on spending, but I was sent in the post yesterday a Gold "Charge" card application form with a starting balance of 12,000 points which is like a pound a point, it does seem to have good rewards scheme and I do spend…

Capital One 0% & Likely Credit Limit?
OK so let's assume you get one of the application forms offering 15 or 18 months 0% balance transfers. The crux for me is the cost benefit, namely the charges & credit limit need to compared to work out whether it is worth taking them up on their kind offer. I recall a cap being mentioned of £50 for a BT so the next…

How long before a pyment is claimed
Can anyone inform me how long a shop has to claim payment from your credit card company? By this I mean the vast majority of credit card transactions appear on your statement the same or next day but occasionally some take longer to appear, if you buy something by post for example or using the old manual swipe systems, or…
