Natwest bank sent an unauthorised duplicate payment & refuse to refund
Rather unusual one- has anyone come across this before? I have a standing order set up of £1,200 a month. Natwest accidentally processed 2 x £1200 on the same day. I have no more payments planned. They admit to the error but instead of refunding one, they insist it's my job to go to the payee to get my money refunded. I…

Why does no-one know about PayM?
Perhaps slight exaggeration, but it seems very few people are aware of the existence of PayM / Pay-a-Contact. The banks brought it in several years ago, but AFAICS have done absolutely nothing to promote it. They spend a fortune encouraging us all to switch accounts, and telling us about the features of their apps, but…

Could this result in disaster -- Settle Up?
I've sold an iPhone to a woman who was initially going to just pick up in person and then claimed due to lockdown she needs the phone posted to her. She sent payment using Settle Up, which is where you send the person a link that allows them to pay you and the payment goes directly into your bank account as cleared funds.…

Victim of a scam using Cashplus account
I’ve recently been the victim of a scam online and made a series of payments to buy a used car from a seller who advertised the car on a local selling group on Facebook. We arranged a payment plan to enable me to pay for the car in instalments to make it easier for me to afford. All seemed genuine and I got the seller’s…

Having Two Passports - Effect on Opening Bank Accounts?
Hi I have a UK Passport. Following Brexit I am considering applying for a second European passport as I have parents from the EU. More UK banks to shut British expat accounts
I am confused by all the air about closing expat accounts. As Northern Ireland (NI) remains in the single market, how can UK based banks provide services to residents of NI , which they do, with out Euro regulation? Similiar the banks based in NI are regulated by the Bank of England (BoE) and not some Eurocrats, yet they…
