Received two letters this morning dated 2 Feb , one from Halifax and one from BOS, both stating that all my accounts with them will be closed on 4 April. Currently have three BOS Vantage with £5k in each purely for savings and have only used for such purposes since opening around mid last year. Plus the Monthly Saver.…

Leaving Cahoot for new TSB account?
Hi all, I'm really tempted by the new TSB account with the 5% interest and £100 welcome. Here's my situation... I've been with Cahoot since about 2001 when they offered an awesome overdraft allowance. I had a savings account also which I took all the money out of when the current account was getting more interest. Last…

Received interest (net) on Club Lloyds account - no direct debits set up
I have received interest (net) of less than £1 despite not having at least two direct debits on the account. I have no direct debits set up on the account. I've funded the account £1500 a month though. I have always thought that interest is paid only when there are two direct debits on the account.

Halifax Reward and the new Tax free Savings
Curious as to how this will work with the new savings tax-free threshold. Currently, Halifax pay £1.25 in tax to the treasury for every monthly £5 reward to the customer. So how will this work when the new tax-free threshold comes into effect? Will Halifax simply stop paying the treasury and not pass on the saving to the…

BoS-to-BoS weekend topup failed to render interest
Last weekend I noticed my Bank of Scotland Vantage Account was £107 short of the required £1000 deposits for January interest. I decided to do an internal transfer from my other Bank of Scotland Vantage Account, the idea being that the funds wouldn't be held up by some external 'digital gate' that's closed on weekends.…

Afraid of switching current accounts
Hi, I've banked with since I was 18, so about 7/8 years. I've seen/heard about people switching and getting £150 for free so I thought why not? The only thing is, I'm afraid incase it all goes wrong. So I've got a few questions: 1) Do I tell my employer my new details or are they informed in the switch? 2) Will all my…

Direct debit notice
Like some other customers of C&G (I presume), I have just received a letter informing me of a change to the DD guarantee. This reduces the notice period they must give of a change in amount to 4 working days. While it is not a great concern to me personally, I did wonder if this complies with banking rules (I assume yes…

Difference Between Halifax Current Accounts
Hi, Im trying to work out the difference between the Halifax 'Rewards Current Account' and the Halifax 'Current Account.' It seems like the only difference between the two is the £5 pcm reward which involves the two direct debits but it seems a bit weird. Why would they have two seperate accounts that are effectively the…

Anyone received £150 from Clydesdale?
I completed a current account switch to Clydesdale before their last deadline of 30th November last year. Their T&Cs say that the £150 will be credited to account within 70days of the switch. This would be the 8th Feb for me. I have met all the qualifying criteria within this period, and I somehow doubt it will be paid…

UK Bank Account that can accept online payments in USD?
I get paid by my clients in US dollars, through PayPal. After PayPal have taken their fees, I have to withdraw the money to my UK bank account. Nationwide RAF and TopCashBack
Anyone know if these promotions are mutually exclusive? RAF pays £100 to the introducer as well as the new account holder. TCB pays the new account holder if they apply through TCB site. The way RAF operates, it would appear as if you might be able to get both - anyone any experience on this? Many thanks

Direct Debuts on Account which was switched
Hi, So, I set up an account switch from nationwide to Yorkshire, and messed up the DD's and cancelled them by mistake halfway through the switch, I then set them back up on the nationwide account but because the direct debits had already been told to the new bank, the account was closed without moving them so now I'm…

TSB Classic Plus application declined, even though I didn't request an overdraft
I applied for the TSB Classic Plus account a few days ago, but was declined today. I didn't request an overdraft, because I'm only interested in being in credit and earning the 5% interest, and getting access to the 5% regular saver. Is it worth contacting them about why I was declined? I've recently (past two weeks) been…
