Santander - system down cost me money

Options
I wonder if anyone can advise me.

After numerous attempts to set up a online details to pay off solicitors & service charges. I gave up and phoned Santander and asked them to help I was informed that I would need to go into the branch and show ID as I also wanted to change contact details.

The staff tried to help. They were unable to change my personal details but they were able to set up the bank details but for whatever reason they could not process my request to make the payment but said I should be able to access my account later and do it myself.

I was to annoyed to bother arguing.

Now I have been hit with extra legal bill for not paying the funds by end of business and I am fuming as if the staff at Santander had done as I asked the money would had been paid.

Can I make a complaint and ask for the cost or is it not worth bothering.

Many thanks for any advice.

Hard to say since you don't give enough details about how much time elapsed overall, and why you didn't try alternative payment methods. couldn't you have paid by giving debit card details to solicitor?Written them a cheque ?

Why do you feel the need to ask if you should complain?
If you are unhappy with the service your bank has provided then complain.

On a different note, how much notice did the solicitor give you for payment? Did the solicitor advise you of additional charges if payment is received late?

How come it was being paid at the last minute? And if there was a problem with payment did you notify the solicitor and explain the situation?

I complained and things got sorted. The bank processed my request and payment was still received by other company on last day due.

So the bank apologised and as they were able to provide proof that payment went through I provided this to other party and court that I was not at fault.

The other party said their solicitors told them that they had not received the payment anyway I don't care now as I can prove that the account number provided by the solicitors DID receive the funds on the correct date.
