What is Tesco trying to sell me?
Ignored a phone call, googled the number, Tesco Bank Sales. Now got a letter, apparently from Tesco Bank Savings, saying they couldn't contact me, will I please ring them, on an 0845 number. What are they after? Last time they tried to sell me something, it was ID theft insurance, total rip-off. But that was years ago.

Grrrrrrr
Don't know if this is right place or not. Last week - Tuesday - I managed to find a good deal for my house insurance after the renewal came in at £15 more - no claims - so found new one for £30. So gave them my bank details and DD to start on the first of month. Wednesday - notice my bank account was at zero and I thought…

BBC Watchdod: Banks freezing out innocent customers and blacklisting them
I think it's worth posting as there were many reports here recently about this and the way banks treat presumably innocent customers is indeed appalling. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/4fmsdFpNjBWnMMKLQDpbr8Q/banks-freezing-out-innocent-customers

direct debit from natwest to tesco
I have recently set up a monthly direct debit to a Tesco savings account. It is showing the link on my Tesco account but it is not showing any Active direct debits on my Natwest account page. The first payment doesn't actually start until 11th June 2013 so would it only show as active once the first payment goes out? The…

Lloyds TSB Split
Lloyds TSB is splitting, Lloyds is going to be a completely new bank and TSB is staying as it was. I'm being given the chance to either stay with TSB or move to Lloyds opening a whole new account. I'm thinking of moving as Lloyds have a brach in my town. Is this the right thing?

Inland Revenue+R85 response.
Hope this is in the right place. I did not know until this year that my nil tax status for bank interest still needed renewal annually. Having attained pension age, I'd thought that was that. Natwest sent off the R85 we filled in 3 months ago. I've written to HMRC twice since. Not even the courtesy of an acknowledgment.…

Cash ISA - Silly question?!
I have applied for a Cash ISA with Santander as I am with them already for my current account. I know that you can put in there around £5,500 without having to pay any tax on that. My question is once I have put 5,500 can I not put anymore in or can I continue to put more in but not have it tax free? I am sorry if its a…

How many bank accounts do you think I need?
I'm self employed and currently bank with HSBA, Santander and Lloyds. Lloyds: Where my income goes Santander: Where my direct debits are such as Mobile Phone, Car insurance etc HSBC: Currently not using it for anything What I'd like is to have it organised so that when I get paid, I can: 1) spread say 20% to a savings…

First Direct Account - needs salary???
I have been busily reading the many and various threads about First Direct. I have found out that having £1 in one of their savings accounts means you dont pay the £10 fee or need £1000 to go in each month. I have found out the £1000 that you need to go in, to qualify for the £100 incentive, can go in and out…

money sent to wrong-invalid IBAN
Ok please tell me there is a way around this. I have given my aunt my IBAN so she can send me some money. Now this is the thing. My first card I got from Barclays I never received so they cancelled it and they issued a new one. I still had the old letter though and gave an IBAN with the old cards details if this makes…

Santander 123 & First Direct questions
As with many others, I recently opened the FD 1st Account to get the £125 joining incentive and to qualify for their Regular Saver account. Am I correct in stating that the monthly fee will be waived so long as I have £1 sitting in their Everyday Savings account, and that now I could move my direct debits elsewhere? I…

Co-op in meltdown
Tried to get a £385 train ticket this afternoon on debit card. Card declined with ~£10k cleared balance, thought ok, bit odd, try cash machine. Try Lloyds cash machine, balance enquiry says "this service is not available". Same when attempt to withdraw some cash, just £10. Try a Natwest machine, same error. Coop banking…
