money sent to wrong-invalid IBAN

Ok please tell me there is a way around this. I have given my aunt my IBAN so she can send me some money. Now this is the thing. My first card I got from Barclays I never received so they cancelled it and they issued a new one. I still had the old letter though and gave an IBAN with the old cards details if this makes sense. I'm guessing the details of my old card are not someone elses new details right? I'm hoping the money didn't go to someone else?? I just called me aunt and she will contact her bank but I'm just stressing as its all my fault.

Any advice?

    No, it doesn't make any.
IBAN is the address of your bank account and has nothing to do with the debit card linked to this account except that the card does show the sort code and the account number that a are parts of IBAN.

The IBAN is related to your account number, not card number

Sorry for the confusion. Let me try and explain again. :-)

I opened a new account with barclays and never got the card they send me so they issued a new one and it seems there is a different sort code and account number. I guess thats cause it was a new account maybe and I hadn't activated it yet? So they cancelled the whole thing? I'm not too sure. Point is I used the IBAN I was given at the time which is the wrong one...

Just to echo others - the International Bank Account Number (IBAN) is basically your normal bank account number and sort code with information about the country and bank added on.

Even if you gave your aunt your debit card number; I can't see how it would be accepted as it has too many digits and the IBAN check digit would also fail.

The OP is saying that as well as issuing a new card Barclays have changed the sort code and account number. This doesn't sound right to me.

Your correct IBAN is normally shown on you monthly statements or even available on your interent banking. Have you checked either of those? Or have you contacted Barclays to ask them what your IBAN is?

It is strange that your sort code and account number would change just because you were issued a new card - all that normally changes is the 16 digit card number.
