Morning Just wondering if anyone has actually benefited from the discounts offered through Halifax Ultimate Reward account? Just tried booking car hire for my Italy holiday later this year to find the price quoted with the 'supposed' discount code is the same as for anyone who doesn't pay £12.50 per month for the…

Bank Charges :(
Looking for a bit of advice. We have a nationwide flexaccount, which has an o/d limit of £800. Recently, because of a few expensive months, we have had to use this facility. I presumed that with a limit of £800 I would not be able to go over that, so imagine my shock when I logged onto yesterday to find us more than £1000…

Do not login to A&L this morning - HACKED
Alliance and Leicester online banking has been compromised. The login bank references malicious code to capture your details. If you goto Google news and type santander you'll find a link to financial blog finextra that has more details. This is not a phishing attack. A&L servers have actually been compromised. I've alert…

HSBC 'Mistake' letter of refund to my account
I took out a loan a few years ago with HSBC, I defaulted but have finally managed to pay it off. So I got my statement which confirmed that was it done and dusted. I then received a letter telling me when I took out the loan, there was an offer on in which HSBC would pay back 25% of all interest paid upon my final…

A & L Current Account - missing transfers
It has recently been bought to my attention (by my wife) that 9 payments made from my personal A&L account to my personal Lloyds account have not been transfered. The money has left my A&L account but not shown up in my Lloyds account. The total amount that has been "lost" is £2900. This started in October 2010. Can't…

Nationwide Flex Account
Hello I've opened an Nationwide Flex to transfer £700 out of my RBS account so I can use the Flex for everyday spending while RBS keeps all my DDs and SOs together. transfer between accounts, Halifax delay?
I have a Halifax reward current account and a Halifax reward savings account. I needed to transfer money from the savings account to the Halifax reward current account to pay a bill and to make sure I had deposited £1000 in that account. It has not appeared in the current account and I am sure I saw a quick message that it…

Santander reward account - can interest pay the fee? benefits for free??
Hi, I have a santander current account, but a recent need to sort some breakdown cover has got me thinking. I dont normally see the benefit in paid bank accounts, but santander reward account costs £10 with 5% interest, so, if i have £200 in my account each month - i should earn £10 interest on it (ignoring tax deducted),…

Euro cheque?
Hi, Not sure if this post is in the right place. I am buying an item from Ireland and the only payment methods they use are direct payment into their bank or euro cheque. I am confused as I thought Euro cheques were no longer used. Could I send a normal cheque instead in the equivalent british sterling. Is there a charge…

Switch payment/clearing
This may need a bank worker to answer, but here goes: I bank online, and currently a switch payment I do today will not be reflected in my balance today, but will affect my 'available' balance more or less instantly. The switch payment will normally appear on tomorrow's transactions. What is my position in the following…

Citibank Euro account without a 20k job???
Hi, I have just finished university and am moving to Austria for the summer to work as a freelance whitewater raft guide. I am interested in opening a bank account that will not charge me to withdraw cash or on purchases (or at least not charge as much as my current account will) A bit of research indicated that the…

Worst bank ever - Alliance & Leicester Premier Direct
This all started when I opened an account with them. This was around September 2009. The original deal was to open the account and get £100 cash back after a few months but only if they did all the direct debit arranging. It was an online only account which is perfect for me as I never have time to go to a bank. So the…

Advice regarding overdraft
I have a halifax student account with an ovrdraft of £2750  which I have used up and they have written saying it would end in June as I have had it over six years. This was expected and they are fine in doing that. I planned that I would just keep it under the 2500 amount when I get my next student loan and pay the £1…

Waste of paper
My day to day current account is with HSBC and I have £100 overdraft facility, but never use it, however they write to me every year to say it will be reviewed, then they leave it as it is, but this all takes 6 pages and a booklet. What a total waste of resources.:(
