Halifax Ultimate Reward Benefits - are there any?

Morning
Just wondering if anyone has actually benefited from the discounts offered through Halifax Ultimate Reward account? Just tried booking car hire for my Italy holiday later this year to find the price quoted with the 'supposed' discount code is the same as for anyone who doesn't pay £12.50 per month for the priviledge...shock horror.
As a student I worked part-time booking hotels/holidays for customers of another high street bank reward scheme, I should have known it's not all it's cracked up to be.
Would be interested if anyone has found a genuine discount?

I don't tend to use the "Discount Service" offered by the Ultimate Reward, as you can normally get a better deal through a cashback website like Quidco.
You're really paying for the insurances and breakdown cover. If you don't use these, then I would downgrade.
FYI if you fund the account with £1000 per month you get £5 Reward which effectively reduces the monthly fee £7.50 - this makes the account far more competitive, and better value for money (if packaged accounts are your preference).Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0 -
I have used the Home Emergency cover 3 or 4 times in the past few months and I would assume each callout would have cost me anything between £60 and £100, so, yes, it has definitely saved me money...!!0

Having an Ultimate reward gave me 25% of my home insurance with Halfiax, and after two months I changed back to the normal reward account whilst keeping the lower insurance. That was even suggested to me by the Halifax staff :T
Mortgage free - 01/05/2019, mortgage high £200k 20110 -
Breakdown cover, mobile phone insurance, travel insurance, home emergency, charge free overdraft upto £300, £5 per month for paying in over £1000, discount off my home insurance, card care cover that protects my cards/passport/driving licence, purchase protection, identity theft assistance......
So really no not a lot of perks to be honest is there.
Better to do it as a joint account too in my opinion.0 -

They're only interested in getting the commission from the actual sale... after you've opened the account they couldn't care less if you keep it!0 -
does the mobile phone insurance cover more than one mobile?0

It does if you have a joint account - One for each account holder.David
£1 of debt is too much for me!0 -
I have used the emergency home cover and the breakdown cover. I usually go overdrawn every month by at least a few pounds (never more than £300) so it has saved me money in overdraft fees at least. I think overall I am better off with the Ultimate Reward Account as a result.I get enough exercise just pushing my luck0
