Bank Fraud (Update)
Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience or advice regarding bank fraud. Yesterday I checked my online banking (I'm with Northern Bank) and ensured that I had correctly recieved my student loan. A few hours later at an ATM, I found that my balance was ~£7 and I returned home to find a large ebanking…

Using cards abroad - to tell bank or not?
I've read the various discussions here about whether it's best to alert card issuers about overseas use. Personally I've never had a problem (yet!). I let the PO know about a trip once, but not bothered since. Never told Nationwide. Told Santander the first time, who said I should let them know each time, but haven't…

Date on Cheque query?
Hi, Although I am not desperate for the cash and will just hang onto the cheque for a while, has anyone had the following problem before and how does one get around it? Basically it was my birthday earlier this month, and yesterday I finally got around to paying into the bank the few cheques that I had received for my…

Cheque Clearing - Question
Can anyone out there tell me before I go mad, why does it take the Halifax 3 days to clear a cheque in my current account and 7 days into my savings account? Am I to sceptical when I think it is possibly them holding my money to gain interest on for 3 days. Work in out how many cheques are cleared in a day and the possible…

Implications of having a 'double' (same name)
We recently had a lot of trouble trying to open a (joint) bank account, and it eventually emerged that the reason is that there is a person who has the exact same name and same date of birth as OH. This is a little bit scary and I can't quite get my head round the implications. I am wondering if this may be behind problems…

2 Cheque's paid into my account then writing one big cheque out for my father.
My parents are having trouble paying their morgage. To help my parents out myself, auntie and uncle are each paying a little bit each to help them out. In total this is 10k. I am giving them the most, but with a a little bit from each my Auntie and Uncle. To make things easier, they have each made a cheque out to me, which…

Who owns the money in your bank account?
http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201011/cmhansrd/cm100915/debtext/100915-0002.htm Spotted this on another forum. The bill is due for a second reading on 19 November. Might be interesting to see how the vote goes.

Halifax joint account query
I always thought if you had a joint account, both parties had to consent to withdrawals or transfers. Apparantly this is not correct. My son has split from his wife and she has transfered all the money from the joint account, into an account that is in her name only.

Temporary Repayment Agreement Help - Lloyds TSB
Hi folks, Ive got an issue and wanted to hear other people out on it. Ive got a graduate overdraft of about 800 with TSB collections and for the last 6 months its been on a repayment agreement. Its time for it to expire so I asked to extend it. TSB are saying I can repay £35 per month but they cannot freeze any interest so…

Banks making active accounts dormant
In the last couple of months my wife and I have had three different banks trying to declare our accounts dormant and take our money. First was Cater Allen, they wrote us a letter saying that there had only been two transactions on our account in the last 13 months, so it had been declared dormant and unless we wrote to…

Santander 'upgrading' me from electron to visa debit card
Hi all, Didn't know if this was happening to others, but this morning I received a new visa debit card from Santander, who I have been with for years (as Abbey). Anyways, this was the first I knew of the card, and the only info I have is that they are delighted to upgrade my electron visa card to a Visa debit card. Yeah…

BBC Watchdog on Santander - Dissapointed
I was really disappointed with tonight's BBC Watchdog. Granted, it showed Santander's many faults, but it completely failed to touch on the migration from A&L/Abbey, people not having access to their money for MONTHS! They had the Santander Director of Customer relations on the show but she got off VERY lightly. She kept…
