Charges for going overdrawn by £1?
What do you all think about charges if you go overdrawn by only £1? I personally agree with them. Working in a bank i quite often get the arguement It's only x amount" and "this is ridiculous" my view is that if the bank gave everyone a £50 buffer for example then people would use this like they do an o/d and when they go…

Advice needed:switching bank accounts
Hello all, I graduated from uni last July, and have finally paid off my £2750 Halifax student overdraft. Now I've still got this facility until October 2009, and regularly dip heavily into it to provide a float for (extremely profitable) matched betting. If I "switch" to Nationwide or A&L (to take advantage of their new…

Having sorted out my debt problems and got my credit rating back up to a decent level, I recently opened a Halifax high interest current account, and today I received my Visa Debit card... on the back it says "this is not a cheque guarantee card", which surprised me; I thought the Visa Debit cards were all cheque guarantee…

Is £2500 too much to balance transfer?
Hi, We need to transfer our Credit card balance to a 0% card. (currently with MBNA). Does anyone know if the amount is too high? Are companies likely to turn down an application or is the amount irrelevant? We have a good credit rating. Thanks

Lloyds just get worse with the hard sell
Every time I go into my Lloyds branch, they tell me I'm due for a review or I'm eligible for an account upgrade. Years ago, I asked them to mark my account "No Marketing" so I wouldn't be asked every time, but it doesn't make any difference. Today, a little old lady with a walking stick was at the counter next to me. She…

A&L Premier Direct - can you use as a "savings" account
Bear with me. If you open a Premier Direct Current a/c and put in £2,500 (maximum balance that they will pay 6% interest on) and then each month pay in £500 (as per agreement) but then next day transfer £500 out (so you always have £2,500 in) - would this be a decent savings a/c?

A&L £30 fee for fraud protection
We have recently opened an A&L Premier Direct current a/c. Husband rang to activate the debit cards and was offered insurance in case our cards were used fraudulently.
