Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you Dusty for last week's thread

There are 3 levels per day with Level 1 being very basic, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up.

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Mystical Monday – Master Bedroom and Landing
15 minutes…
Strip bed and wash sheets. Remake before bedtime!!!
Vacuum mattress & bugs!
30 minutes to spare…
Wash windows
Floordrobe clearance!
Vacuum floors in bedroom and landing
Got an hour…
Binbag dance
Grab a box of junk.. sort it out.. you surely don't need it all?
Sort one storage area
Check through Christmas ornaments, do any need throwing away or replacing. Last thing you want when you decorate your tree is to find broken ornaments!!!
Extras
  • Wipe down the skirtings upstairs..
  • Clear and tidy the airing cupboard
  • Drag the junk from under the bed and sort through it
  • Wash the bedroom curtains/nets
  • Replace any lights bulbs that need it, check smoke alarms.
  • Clean out any pets!

Wrap any presents you need before the 25th, gifts for teachers or friends. Do you need to give Christmas Boxes to milkmen, window cleaners etc?I know I need to sort out a Christmas Box for my lovely postman, who is very good and even knows when I am up and about now so he can deliver any parcels :D

All done, sort your present drawer for the rest of the year and see what gaps there are which you could fill in the January sales, write a list now.

Twinkling Tuesday - Kitchen and Dining Room!
15 minutes...
Clear and wipe work surfaces
Clear and wipe table.. replace cloth if necessary
30 minutes to spare...
Wipe and replace all small appliances
Wash down the cupboard fronts, kickboards and large appliances
Sweep and mop floors!
Got an hour...
Clean out the smelly fridge.. defrost the freezer so it is clear to fill with chrimbo food!
Wipe the hob
Wash down the paintwork!
Extras
  • Dust and deweb!
  • Wipe/wash light fittings
  • Scrub out the drawers and filters.. TD, WM, DW, etc
  • Clear and wipe window sills!
  • Stick all your cards up
  • Write and send the remaining christmas cards!!
Whimsical Wednesday - Bathroom, Study and other grotty places!
15 minutes...
Clean the loo and the bath and the shower and the basins!
Defragment PC and run spyware scans while scrubbing the tiles and grout!
30 minutes to spare...
Clean out the bathroom cabinets.. throw out/charity shop all last years unused/unwanted smellies.
Clean windows, curtains & blinds etc
Declutter and vacuum/mop floors
Got an hour...
Wash bathmats/shower curtain and furry bog hats
Replace any sponges/flannels/toothbrushes etc that need it
throw out any empty bottles.. decant dribbles into fuller bottles
Extras
  • Post all the cards you need to post. Last posting dates are drawing very close.
  • Wrap all the presents for family/friends/teachers etc
  • Fill a binbag for a friend
  • Fill a binbag for the bin
  • Fill a binbag for recycling!
Tantalising Thursday - Living room, Stairs, Hall
15 minutes...
Declutter and vacuum floors in these areas
30 minutes to spare...
Dust flat surfaces inc. electrical appliances.. but be careful!
Wipe all the paintwork in these areas
Got an hour...
Wipe and water plants
wash windows and any glass.. picture frames, screens etc
Vacuum under and furniture you can safely move
Extras
  • Sort coats and shoes and bags
  • Empty and restack and sort under stair cupboard
  • Clear and clean the porch
  • Make a date for a night out with friends!!..

Fantastical Friday - Let's play catchy-up
15 minutes...
S&S the kitchen and bathroom
30 minutes to spare...
Spend 30 minute pampering yourself!!
Catch up the the window washing
Catch up on the floor mopping/vacuuming
Catch up on the dewebbing and dusting!
Got an hour...
Collect ALL the dirty laundry from about the house inc and bedding that needs changing.. and pet beds!
Spend 15 minutes on your filing
Clean ALL the filters and drawers etc on the kitchen appliances
Extras
  • Wipe down ALL the paintwork you keep putting off
  • Choose a manky kitchen cupboard and make it shine.. the inside.. NOT the outside!
  • Straighten the baubles and lights on the christmas tree.. and if you haven't done it.. get it up stop being such a humbug!
  • Write and send the remaining christmas cards!!

    Hi Natty x thanks for the list. Bedroom is good as despite my marathon housework this weekend I haven't done my own room. So I'll sort that tomorrow after paid stuff.

    Thanks also to dusty for last week.

    Most of the kids stuff is wrapped and I just have a few others to do and pop under the tree. Have some bits for kiddies to give their fave teacher, so they can tie those with ribbon and pop in a bag. Couple of cards to write, and we'll make some for grandparents.

    I have felt like I've had a manic weekend getting stuff done, but still trying not to get carried away with the stress. So far, so good.

    I'm in, I'm in, thanks for this list Natty and yay, it's the bedroom tomorrow which is the room I want to do before the paid stuff in the morning. Paid stuff from 8.45 to 6pm tomorrow, boo....

    I am determined to be IN this week as normally the approach of the Christmas break signals a descent into chaos in my house LOL

    Today I sorted and tidied the spare room AKA general dumping ground! It is now beautiful and tidy and it WILL stay that way

    Tomorrow I will clean the bathroom!

    Hi everyone

    I am in and our bedroom definitely needs attention - once the paid stuff is done tomorrow.

    I need to work out what I have bought for the kids as I havent a clue what I have spent on them at the moment!

    I also need to get a little present for my auntie and give to my parents to deliver when they call on Tuesday. I need a list.

    - Write Christmas cards
    - Post all cards that need posting
    - Check present box and write list for last few bits
    - Take box of stuff to Charity shop
    - Dismantle old cage
    - Sort ottoman
    - Clean rug

    Thanks for the thread Natty.

    Friend wants me to take her to hospital tomorrow and stay (she is in a really bad way atm) so my day will now be bitty. I'll carry forward my few bits left on the list and also need to:

    Take stuff to CS
    Take stuff to scrap store
    Get some danish oil
    Get DS1 a black tie
    List the stuff on ebay

    Wash down the paintwork to make it welcoming
    Write some cards if you need to

    Wipe keyboards, phones, games controllers etc

    Sweep leaves in backgarden
    Finish tidying DH office

    DS2&1 - nag about bank accounts
    The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair

    Hi everyone - we're back. interesting journey home as M1/M6 to junction 2 junction was reported as closed so we headed across country on the A5!!
    Weather appalling as neared home and we are now on Flood alert!
    Sorry haven't really taken anything in off last week's thread - thanks Dusty.
    Have huge lists to do now so will be cracking on tomorrow.
    First job to super-clean lounge and hallway ready to put up the trees!
    Then catch up with weekend's washing/ironing and go shopping for fod as the fridge is bare!
