Strange ESA Payment. NOT Christmas/New Year Related As Far As I Can Tell...

Hello everyone. I've searched this forum and a few other sites but haven't been able to find an explanation.
Like everyone else my Christmas dated ESA came in early (24th Dec instead of 25th). However my next payment (fortnightly) is not due until the 8th January 2013. The thing is half of it has been paid in. That is, one weeks payment dated the 31st Jan when I checked my online banking.
This would make sense if my ESA was due over the New Year bank holiday but it's not.
Anyone have a clue what's going on?
Thanks in advance for any help

It's income related and I've been receiving it for about 2 1/2 months now although it was back-dated by an extra 10 weeks which I have already been paid in arrears.0

i have also received a weeks payment into my bank and am not due to be paid till the 8th of January i have been claiming for quite some time now but never had a payment without notification as prior to receiving any money into the account normally im sent a letter if a payment is owed or due early0

my son had a weeks payment also and he isn't due to be paid until the 8th also my mum in law had a weeks payment which isn't due till the 7th0

Went on to my online banking to check my balance and noticed that a one week payment had been transfered into my account, last date i was paid was the 21st as i was actually due a normal payment on the 25th and like yourselves i got it early,so if my memory serves me correct then the next payment wont be due in till at least the 15 of january as that will be in two weeks time(i myself get paid every 2nd tuesday and its income based ESA),seems a tad odd to me aswell because it says the 31st on it but but its not even the 31st offically till after 12midnight
really bizzare
wish the dwp would clearly outline christmas and new year payments so that their customers arent running around like headless chickens on a farma letter out to us isnt hard is it??

Thank you wolf1978, ziptia and VictorianGothic. It's a relief to know that it's not just me!
Something I should also mention is about 5-6 weeks ago I got a letter saying I may receive a compensatory payment because getting my arrears paid was such a hassle and took so long.
At first I wondered if it might be this but I haven't heard anything about that since. Plus it would be odd as it was exactly half of my normal fortnightly payment.
Oh well, I'll try and contact them tomorrow and report back if I do!0 -
i got a payment into my bank today also and am not due a payment until the 8th im in the support group i'll probably try and phone them tomorrow if i can stomach the hour long on hold music lol0
