Just a thought. Panic attack?
Friend here poo-pooed that suggestion when suggested last year after I picked them up, following a number of hospital visits.
It's now looking that way.
From personal memory, panic attacks are very good at mimicry and produce symptoms remarkably close to the 'real thing.'0 -

There was no breathing or sweating or panic, just....pain. Maybe though.
Its been happening after meals for a while and I have been somewhat unsympathetic and teasing about indigestion and greed . But he eats slowly, not a gobbler, and last night particular was not a large meal , and after the period of stress I was minded to take him more seriously .
One of the possibilities might be GERD, but no acid or anything. He has no heart history in his family, but no exercise history either.0 -
After meals wasn't part of the pattern for panic attacks in my case, nor did I usually feel any 'panic.' No pain either on most occasions, so that was different too.
Two things predisposed me: stress at work and a weekend or holiday, such as we're having now. Significantly, it never happened at work.
But people's symptoms may be different.0 -
hi all...............LIR.... hope fir is ok ?:(
well its stayed dry here and im hoping it is tomorrow as im doing the car boot sale . im amazed how unsorted all my "sorted" carp was from last house !! still finding stuff id forgotten.. trouble is I waste time looking AT the items rather than being ruthless and just getting rid..:o
took mum to see pops today and on way back ventured into the "free for all" jungle of the supermarket  .... do people think the worlds gonna end by Tuesday or something ?? it was ridiculous.. I just wanted a sack of dog food and some bakery sausage rolls !! was going to give up queing but thought anywhere was gonna be the same so stuck it out....
hope everyone has a good weekend0 -
Thinking of you and your family today IHS x
Glad to hear FIR is ok, LIR.....hugs to you both too x
Have managed to take advantage of a dry (and relatively warm) day here and got some more planting done as well as a quick trip out to a local garden centre to snap up a huge spherical buxus marked down from £100 to £50
Alfie, don't remind me of all our *stuff* collected recently from the storage unit down in Wilts and now taking up the lion's share of our garage here. All needs sorting - some (a good 80%) is from my parents' house - into ebay, carboot, charity shop piles. I'm dreading it tbh, just pleased we're no longer forking out £120 per month for storage! Really wish we'd held a *garden sale* before we sold the last house......we went to a supposedly *grand* country house yard sale near the old place last summer (house sold for £4 million) and without word of a lie I've thrown better stuff away, yet peeps were trawling through the skip they had there as if carp was going out of fashion! They were asking £700 for curtains, lol!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Tbh that doesn't seem so odd to me. I've seen second hand curtains from country houses and London house go for two grand plus so.......
Oh, and there is she and hand curtain shop in bath I just never go in......I don't want to know the prices after my sister came out ashen. She never blanches at prices.0 -

Mum's now been moved from to her local(ish) hospital after the specialist cardiac centre judged her well enough to move. She was chatty enough when I visited so am a wee bit more hopeful.
She admitted she's been silly in trying to always 2nd guess the carers and look for work to do in house. I could never get her to explain how, with carers 4 times a day and a housekeeper 3 times a week, she could find anything that truly needed doing! Anyhow, water under the bridge.
Lovely day in Scotland, I drove along Loch Lomond coming back from the hospital and the water and mountains were spectacular in the sun and clear air.0 -
I was about to say the same re curtains ... and old material in general. I know someone who happily pays big bucks for them. I love it that they are restored to once again hanging up and not in a chest somewhere. often the work that has gone into weaving/making them belies the first look.
glad the cola and pizza medicine is working0 -

Yes, I know what you mean LIR - and if they were really decent quality fabrics I could understand why, but these were truly nasty cheapie ones and I think just cashing in on the whole *country house yard sale* vibe
For vintage Liberty or similar I wouldn't mind shelling out and when you see the price of some designer fabrics brand new, a few grand for second hand doesn't seem unrealistic imho.
I did pick up a wool blanket/throw for £1 and a small oak table for £5 (bought mainly as I didn't want to walk out empty handed ), but we went ready to splash the cash - I'd have happily spend hundreds on the right quality used curtains, which was one of the reasons I went - older fabrics are usually much more characterful and interesting - and came away extremely disappointed.....the vultures scrabbling round in the skip on the driveway really summed it up for me.
In future I doubt I'd bother with such sales and will stick to ebay/auction houses etc, although according to DH more curtains/upholstery fabrics are the last things I need - we have a room full. He's gradually persuading me to auction them off - I've just parted with two huge pairs of amazing vintage velvet ones and a fab chenille pair, far nicer than anything they had on offer
Back in my fashion designing days I'd have created outfits from them - yes, I used to go out in dresses made from curtains, lol - but those days are long gone :rotfl:
I did manage to find some great designer remnants - Osborne & Little, Designers Guild, Voyage etc - at an interiors shop before we moved up here. I couldn't believe the prices - 2m @ £75 per m knocked down to £5 for the piece. I picked up loads - even for cushions etc they'll be wonderful and I found a gorgeous brown with gold thread running through that'll go perfectly with my vintage '70s Art Nouveau ladies wallpaper & gold tap in the cloakroom!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
