Help needed re ink stains on clothing

Options
Hi,
My OH has gotten black ink onto his chef whites
I have washed twice with normal washing powder with Napisan added on 90degree wash (usually do this - only thing that cleans them!)
Have left for 8 hrs soak in Napisan
Have made white vinegar / bicarb paste and left it on stains for 6 hrs
Have added soda crystal to wash
Have used strong soda crystal solution
Have scrubbed and scrubbed

Shall I just give up?!

HELP PLEASE!!
Megs xx

It's probably too late for this time but when the stain is fresh, dip it in milk.

Diluted bleach is generally my last resort...

    Good luck

Snap I was going to say milk.

I have a household hints and tips book somewhere. Need to pull it out and gives you hints on stain removal and what you should have in your cleaning kit as well.

I will go and have look later.

But you should always treat the stain before washing as washing and ironing can set the set stain.

    Yours

The advice from howtocleananything.com is quoted below:
    Tools & Chemicals:
Terry towels or paper towels, drycleaning solvent or rubbing alcohol.

    Technique:

    • Always read and follow the care instructions and any warnings on the garment label.
    • First, sponge the area around the stain with the solvent or alcohol. Then apply the alcohol or solvent directly on the stain. Next, place the stain face down on clean white, cleaning towels. Apply alcohol or solvent to the back of the stain. Replace towels frequently. Continue until no further ink is removed. Then rinse thoroughly.
    • Rub with heavy duty liquid detergent and launder in hottest water safe for fabric, with bleach safe for fabric. Always check for color fastness first.
    • Some inks on white fabric may be removed with a dye stripper. You should be able to find this in areas where package dyes are sold. For stains on colored fabrics, check for dye stability in a hidden area before using.
Precautions:Heat sets ink stains. Act quickly as a precaution check your laundry before putting it in the dryer.
The last bits says really that if you've washed and dried it already you may be too late. Perhaps the only thing left, as suggested above, would be a soak in a mild bleach solution. Maybe oxyclean?

What sort of pen is it? I once saw some ballpoint pen ink stain remover in Tesco - but by then it was too late for the shirt which had been well washed with a biro.

    Glycerine sometimes lifts the stain
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
