Hi folks,
Can anyone tell me how to remove ink on a shirt?
I didn't notice it until it had gone through the washing machine and I was about to iron it!
It's biro ink if that makes a difference.
Thanks in advance

If the shirt is a natural fabric I would try dabbing it with methylated spirits (the purple one).
It worked for me when I accidentally marked a sofa with black biro!:wave:0 -
Not very OS or money saving, but I think something like Stain Devils may be your only option now. I always found Biro ink just stayed put on school shirts and I ignored it!0

I agree , Biro ink is nigh on impossible to get out if it's a leak. The odd line or so normally comes out in the wash or can be removed by gently scrubbing with a nail brush and some soap or a paste of washing powder and water.
I've used satin Devils on removing splashed "Permanent" fountain pen ink and that worked a treat.Hoping this year is better than the last.0 -
Hairspray is good too!! Believe it or not!! Spray and Blot, Spray and blot, until the ink is gone then wash as normal!!

Thanks to everyone who's posted replies. I'll try this weekend.
Heaven knows how it got on my shirt-it's on the back (yoke?)-I suspect some "funny" person did it for a laugh!

Is this possible? I've just realised that a very nice top in my wardrobe has an ink stain down the front of it. I remember what my mum used to do when I got ink on my school shirts which was soak it in milk. Does this acually work, especially as the ink's been there for a while? I don't want an ink stained top that smells of milk as well!
Any advice would be great. Many thanks0 -
It works on biro - you soak it and wash it. Not sure if it works on other inks thoughworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
