Sorry folks but between 3 jobs and builders I have not had a minute. I've also been diagnosed with sleep apnoea so last couple months have been a challenge to say the least.
My kitchen is so so so so amazing I bloody love it. Just got completed yesterday. Bathroom is looking fabulous as well. I did however end up spending about £13k so I am scared to look at my new debt totals. I do however KNOW for a fact that I can pay it off so I am not worried in the slightest. I can't get the snowball on whats the cost to work so might need to see if I can find another spreadsheet.
Will be getting a CPAP machine ASAP to help me sleep but I cannot tell you how exhausted I am. I've been tired for a couple of years but have put it down to being busy/menopausal/overweight or all of the above. Whilst on holiday with my friends in the summer though my friends were really concerned about me as I was so loud when I was sleeping and also frequently stopped breathing. Consultant has said that I will feel a massive improvement. I was beginning to think I was just lazy, so am relieved to get a diagnosis and hopefully get myself fixed. I'll be like superwoman.
So just a short visit as I am heading off to bed soon as I am knackered lol. Hope everyone is well xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Evening all. I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas. I have decided 2017 is going to be a phenomenal year for me. I am going to work my socks off and grind this debt down again. I got my 10 year badge today which was a bit of a wake up call. I've been moneysaving and trying to get rid of my debt for 10 years :eek:seriously
I still can't get the snowball in whats the cost to work. I e-mailed them but no reply and not fixed. I registered under a different email address and still no success so I have given up. I know what order I want to pay off my debts anyway and I am starting with my overdraft as that is costing me £1 per day I am overdrawn. Been here before but will start again. I will then pay off cards by smallest balance first. That would take me down to 3 cc's only although the balances are high. I will do this.
£50 paid today so that's a start5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Great to see you back again MIT. Is that the last of the house improvements now that you need to get done?
Although it's ten years it's been specific stuff you've needed each time which has delayed your debt busting/increased your debt when you've been well on the way to paying it off. As I've said before when I first read your diary I couldn't understand why you still were in debt as you'd been well on your way to paying it all off. But when I caught up to date you'd bought some major item on credit so had increased the total. This happened a few times. All absolutely needed items but obviously why the debt busting slowed.
But you have managed it all so well and brought up your two children solo so huge congratulations to you and I've no doubt you'll have it all paid off in short order.

Good to hear from you MIT, agree with paying off the smallest debts first as each time you pay one off it will give you a great feeling and be determined to carry on. I have just changed my hours in work and increased them slightly, all I want to do is save the extra money am determined to save as much as possible whilst enjoying the odd treat.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.000

Hi folks. V thanks for lovely post. You're right the money I've spent has been mostly on essentials ( with a wee holiday now and again)
Amber you go for it. I use everything I earn from extra jobs for debt and only ever use it for living in December
My next project for the house is new internal doors. All needing replaced as they are over 40 years old and weren't that good to start off with . DS has pulled the handles off of most of them and I have screwed them back on so often that they can no longer be put back on. I am going to save up from my normal wages for the doors if I can and still use money from job no2 for debt. I will then see about a new suite as springs are away in mine and it is getting pretty nasty. Bedrooms are all okay. Garden can just get a tidy as doors are this years priority.
Was in work this morning but am now off until 5th January . I have some laundry to get done and I need to do my accounts for HMRC but other than that I am going to spend some time on meal plans and getting food stuff sorted out for 2017.
I'm feeling all motivated and determined again. When I see how nice my house can look it spurs me on massively. Doing a linen stocktake this afternoon along with some tidying and then I'll chill tonight. Have a good day all xx5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60

Like you I'm going to have to borrow to pay for new kitchen, bathroom and heating. But it will add value to the house and has been put off for far too long. If the worse came to the worst we could sell up and get a smaller house and it would be more saleable. Most of our internal doors are the original 1930s ones with the Bakelite handles so they definitely need replacing as they are rather past their best.Christmas Savings 2024 £252.38/£600 April NSD:2 April Surveys £0

SA I must admit that the pleasure I am getting from both new rooms is massive and worth every penny. Only thing is that the rest of the house looks shabby in comparison, Trying not to think about it too much
My house is hardly big enough for us as it is so downsizing is not an option for me.
Got paid for laundry and other cleaning job today so I now have almost £300 to start getting the debt down.
DD is working on Hogmanay so she has gone out tonight for a big night out. I'll just take the bucket up and leave it beside her bed when I head upstairs
Looking forward to 2017 as I reckon it will be another good one for us x5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
