When you tackle the overdraft are you going to reduce it each time so you can't build it back up?

If the worse came to the worst we could sell up and get a smaller house and it would be more saleable. Most of our internal doors are the original 1930s ones with the Bakelite handles so they definitely need replacing as they are rather past their best.
If you have the original doors and handles replacing them might reduce the value of the house. If you really want new ones you might find willing buyers locally who want "original features" to put back.CCs @0% £24k Dec 05 £19,621.41 Au £13400 S 12600 Oct £11,981 £9481 £7500 Nov £7250 D £7100 Jan 6950 F £5800 Mar£5400 May £4830 June £4660 July £4460 Aug £3200, S £900, £0 18/9/07 DFW Nerd 0420 -
The upstairs are original doors, downstairs new. To be honest the doors have about had it with big chunks missing and loads of layers of paint, they look awful. I don't know if they could be restored, maybe someone would want them, if only the handles.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

I got my original doors dipped. My house is not that old - 1933 but when we moved in it still had the original doors (except bathroom/toilet which had been brought inside) but they were an awful mustard colour. Underneath that was a green and a variety of other colours.
We had our doors dipped - I think it might have been £30 each - and they are fab. We still have the original handles on all doors except the lounge but are looking to buy some originals so it all matches.
If the doors are in ok condition I would get them dipped.
Mine have had wear and tear but just look fab and fit in with the age of the house.0 -
Doors are in horrific condition. DS has pulled most of the handles off over the years. I have then tried to screw them back on so there are multiple holes and no handles. They weren't special doors in the first place to be honest.
Lucielle I am thinking of reducing overdraft down to about £200 so I never get this bad again. Not wanting to take it down to zero just in case of mistakes.
Ali hi hope you are okay. I'll have a wee catchup on your thread tonight.
Restarted SW tonight. Not been for weeks and gained a stone but at least I haven't put everything back on
I was having a wee facebook rant earlier about the amount of food that has been wasted in here recently so I went and stocked up on all things SW and all things teenager and I am going to be super careful from now on in. I really need to get my life back on track and I'm actually quite excited about it .
I'm having friends up to the cottages I deal with at the weekend. Won't cost me much as we are having chinese delivered and I already have a ton of booze and snacks so I am determined that I am spending under £10.
My dryer is making funny noises so I am going to call in morning and have an engineer come out to that. Need to hide all the laundry when they come or they will refuse to fix it.
Historically the first few months of the year are quite quiet as far as cleaning and laundry is concerned but looks like this year is going to be busier. Not complaining but just wondering why everyone i having breaks at home rather than abroad. Maybe its just me as I would head to the sun.

V I didn't even think of that. Makes sense though and I'll make a fortune so :j:j
Been unwell last couple days with my sleep apnoea. So frustrating. Phoned and e-mailed clinic today so will see if anyone gets back to me. I'll call again in morning as I was so spaced out today I thought I was perhaps having a stroke, Crazy experience,
my ex FIL is dying and I'm not sure what I feel about it.I feel I should be sad as he was a big part of my life for a long time but I'm not. I feel sad for my kids as they are upset but I can't get over the fact that they more or less ditched my kids since I split with their Dad.
Had my annual wee trip away to the cottages with my friends and their husbands. Another fabulous night. Think I need to dry out now. I didn't however spend a fortune this time. We had chinese and all the alcohol I took with me was given to me as gifts so no cost there. Back on the moneysaving wagon5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
