Good to see you - hope you're enjoying your new kitchen. Don't blame you getting a gardening gnome to do his magic in your garden - you work hard and deserve some relaxing time.

  • Evening all. I can't believe its been so long since I have been on here. Kind of lost my way over the summer. I haven't added any debt and have plodded away paying minimums on everything but no real progress made. I've started again though as I need to get rid of this once and for all.

I hope you are all well and doing well with your debt journey.

It's been a crazy summer for me. Been constant work and laundry. Manged to fit in a wee week in Spain but it was super hot when I was there so I was practically the same colour when I came back as it was too hot to sunbathe.

I have started the Cambridge diet and am 4 weeks in and 2lb off of 2 stones lost. I'm delighted. I'm not allowed to do the full meal replacement diet because I have previously had kidney stones but I can do the 3rd step which seems to be suiting me just fine. It's nowhere near as expensive as I thought it would be either so it's all good. Some folks are trying to kill my buzz about it by saying 'it'll go straight back on when you eat normally' and they are right but I will hopefully not be eating my normal and be okay. I just have to try ,

So just a wee short post tonight as I'm shattered and heading to bed. Weigh in day tomorrow :D

How lovely to see you back! I've been hoping you hadn't disappeared for good!
I've had excellent success with the Blood Sugar Diet. Normal food, don't feel hungry and full fat dairy is encouraged. Prof Taylor of Newcastle Uni pioneered it as 800 calories for 8 weeks. He's a leading diabetes expert and this has reversed Type 2 and pre type 2 in many people. Dr Michael Mosely who started the 5:2 diet idea has used it to reverse his own Type 2. People lose an average of 14kg over the 8 weeks. It also works for shorter periods
with obviously lower losses. The idea is to stop eating sugar and most carbs and eat a Mediterranean style diet for the rest of your life. No hardship going by the recipes I've cooked which are really tasty and quick. I found some by googling as The Mail published some and then bought the 8 week BSDiet recipe book.
Sorry to be so evangelical but I've stayed the same weight for so long I thought I'd never lose any more.

Good to hear from you MIT, glad you have had a good summer . I am always better with money when I come on these boards, annoys me when I come back after a few weeks off and realise the money I have wasted. Fab news on the weight loss, mine has been going up think I need to address this before it gets out of control.x

  • Hi MIT

Hope the eating plan going well and spending in control.

My weight is appalling at the moment. I did lose 1.5st via 5 2 a couple of years back.. like most things it's about planning and preparation.

  • Don't listen to them! My sister lost 5 stone in 4 months on Cambridge! People bang on about how it's not healthy, but is eating way too many calories and junk food any better?! Not saying that's what you were doing, but always annoys me people saying it's not good for you, you will put it all on and more and unless you were eating like a vegan goddess before I am all for it! Good luck with it! xx

I work with someone who lost 4st on the Cambridge Diet a few years ago and has kept it off. It's whatever works for you.
