  • Good morning. Lovely and sunny here in my neck of the woods but dearie me it's cold.

Working later this afternoon so will spend next couple of hours doing my housework and then chill for a while before I head up for a hard shift.

I got my new car insurance quote in and when I looked online I could get it for a couple hundred pounds cheaper if I shopped around. As you know I have been on a bit of a downer so I hadn't actually done anything about it but the renewal was due today. So last night I went on to the website fort he company I use and it was almost £200 cheaper that my quote if I was a new customer. So I phoned this morning and they price matched the quote. No quibbling at all. So easy. I might have managed about £20 cheaper elsewhere but I am happy with this company and can't be bothered moving so I am well chuffed. Ihave saved £17 per month off my instalments.Girl on phone told me they will always price match the online price.

So I will head off and get some cleaning done. Need to be quiet mind you as my lazy 2 are still in bed *rolleyes*

DS has wanted dumbells so he can do some weight training. Argos have a 20% off on weights and I have £15 nectar points. I sent DD and her BF in to collect them. She forgot to take the nectar card and then forgot to ask for the discount. I could throttle her. So the £20 savings I would have made are now no more . Honestly. That'll teach me to do it myself in future. She now doesn't know what she has done with the £40 I gave her and also my nectar card.

I agree with this - can you take the dumbbells back for a refund and then buy them again using the Nectar point?.

Hope DD has found your money and your nectar card

Just catching up with your diary and can empathise with you on the carp manager front. I am also going through a tough time with (new) manager who seems to have it in for me despite my hard work. So glad to hear you got the union involved. Hope you get justice!

  • Money and card found. I will use the points towards an electric shaver for him instead. Silly b*gger had it in her purse all the time :mad:

INOD my DS is like a baby elephant at the best of times so God help us when he has weights

Sun addict don't let the manager get away with it. Who the h ell do these folks think they are ...........I mean seriously. Managers are there to empower and motivate staff and obviously deal with any issues as required. Nowadays half of them only try to manage with bully boy tactics ..........eejits

Rarely do I miss having a significant other but today is one of those days. I could do with someone who totally has my back. Carp manager did not change her mind and has kept my marking as it is. This means I need to appeal. I am now beginning to think maybe I should just give in and accept I am rubbish at my job as she seems determined that I am. But then I think she is an idiot so maybe not. When I came in from work DS ended up dancing me around the kitchen to 'the locomotion' which gave us a giggle as he has 2 left feet. He really truly does 'Dad' dancing :rotfl:

Anyway. I collected shaver for DS tonight and saved £17.50 by using my nectar card. So just money in a money card for him and a few bits and he is done.

EE I got those cashmere scarves and they are really lovely. That's another couple of gifts sorted out.

I need cash of £250 and about £150 still for gifts. I should just about manage that if I am very careful.

My murder mystery night will need to be done on a shoestring. I will use my decorations to tart up the house and we are ordering in chinese so we will split the bill. I was in Iceland the other day and they have fab big party packs of bite size desserts and nibbles. They're only £5 per pack. I'm not going mad as I will tell the guests to bring their own booze, mixers and nibbles. So unless I start getting silly then it will be a cheapie night. I'll buy crackers though and Christmas napkins. I already have table decorations etc so no need for those. I'm trying to get excited about it but need to get the work situation resolved first.

I have nothing else booked but will have a lunch with my lunch buddies at some point no doubt but they know my payments from ex have stopped so I can easily say to go somewhere cheapish.

So a chill out night tonight for me as I am tired. I have slimming club tomorrow and also docs. I'm actually tempted to get a sick line for a couple of weeks and stuff them

Don't you dare give in. You are so much better than that. Never allow anyone to put you down. Either you'll regret it or you'll start to lose any belief in your value. As someone told me, don't let them grind you down. The important point is in the word let. No one can belittle you without your permission or acquiescence. Here endeth the rant. Can you tell I'm dealing with my own appraisal currently?

I'm starting to think that these managers are trained to try and cheese staff off so much they leave thus saving on making people redundant. It's not a job I'd have the thick skin to do. MIT I think you can rest assured that you are brilliant at your job and it's your manager who is rubbish. Hope you get it sorted soon, it's a very unfair situation.
