Are you having an existing utility room renovated or is it an extension to create one? Either way I'm jealous - would love a utility room - good luck with it all - am sure the end result will be worth all the hassle!

Hi Pushkin - Neither, we're having the back part of the garage converted. Will be good to get the washing machine moved out of the kitchen, and be able to use the dryer which has been in the garage for over a year.

Also means we can plug the dishwasher in where the washing machine was, again we've been without it for over a year.

Also having a new boiler and central heating and having the house re-wired, maybe I won't do that overpayment after all.:D

Sorry AFK not managed to make the OP. As someone once said Money is too tight to mention.... Work is ongoing on the utility room, I really hope it's going to be worth it - not sure what it's going to add to my life personally, but there you go.

No matter, other priorities are taking over for the moment, and I'm sure it will make a huge difference to you.Happy Wife, Happy Life and all that

I'm going to relax the o/p's/savings for the next two months until after the NY, then pick it up again, knowing I have 2 "free" months for council tax - will boost my o/p's to get me started again

And if you just happen to have a spare £ or two, no harm in o/p them, just remember, that would be another £2 your not paying interest on, ever again

Standard Mortgage payment gone in and we've now paid 10k off the mortgage. Only another 21.5 10ks left to pay :-)

The re-wiring has started on the house, wife and kids have moved out, I'm sleeping on the sofa and the house looks like Beirut.

I've also been doing another job at work on an interim basis and that's going really well, but really opened up my mind about what to do with my career - watch this space.

Just made a £37.43 OP to round my balance down, A Frayed Knot would be very proud. Another 0.01% of my mortgage paid off.

Pay day and monthly review of financial situation, not a pretty picture. Overall £10k worse off than I was, 2 months ago (for some reason I didn't do it last month). Nothing I can do, just suck it up.

Still the work continues on the house, re-wiring is still going on, the electric meter is being moved on Monday, can't wait for the weekend. We've got a Ball to go to tonight which should be fun. Have a great weekend everyone :-)
