Report the card lost buckets!!
Apparently "continuous authority transactions" cannot be canceled (there have been several threads on this subject in the credit card forum!!!)
Once you have done that then get on to these thieves and demard all your money back!!0 -
Hi
I have noticed that the above shoppers discounts have taken £30 from my bank, it was through CD Wow, it is a shame such companys are 'supporting' them and giving personal details (what happened to Data Protection?!!)
I rang them today and was told I would receive a refund within 10 days, then I notice the other 2 payments taken...surely this is not 'legal' I did nothing other than click the link when ordering a CD!!0 -
sorry for joining this thread so late, this company also deducted from my company credit card as i clicked save £10 off your next train journey booked through trainline.
I did find it easy to stop the "subscription" but dont feel it was clear when i clicked through the trainline site.0 -
Shopperdiscount emailed me today to say they'll refund me the rest of my money. It took one phone call and the posting of one claim form (which i just had to state how much i wanted back and sign my name). Its taken little effort and 3 days, so i dont see why everybody who has fallen victim to this should not claim all their money back.
So far i've not seen any payments from them, but i'm sure I will very soon.0 -
Several months ago I ordered a rail ticket through TRAINLINE online. I was asked if I wanted discount on the ticket through a shoppers discount voucher. I agreed and received the discount. However ever since that purchase SHOPPERS DISCOUNT have continued to take £10 per month from my account. All efforts to contact the company via e:mail and telephone have failed. I contacted my bank LLOYDS TSB who advise there is little they can do because the money is being debited from my cashline card, ie it is not a direct debit or standing order they can simply cancel for me. What they have done is written to Shoppers Discounts bank and asked them to stop debiting my account. The letter was sent on the 26th of March - SHOPPERS DISCOUNT TOOK THE MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT AGAIN ON THE 15TH APRIL. According to the bank this is OK as SD posted the request on the 8th April, within the statutory 15 days notice required. I am advised that no more should come from my account now... watch this space! Advice - GIVE SHOPPERS DISCOUNT A HUGE BERTH, THEY HAVE KNOWINGLY ROBBED ME AND MY BANK HAVE HARDLY BEEN PROACTIVE IN AVOIDING IT HAPPENING AGAIN.
Hi Buckets, I rang them on 0808 234 1539 on Monday, and got through first time, it was a 3 minute phone call and at the end of it was refunded my last 3 payments, and they emailed me a claim form which i posted to them. Today i have been told they'll refund all my money, so please dont let them keep your money, get it all back. I also agreed and received the discount they offered.0 -
I too have just been conned by this organisation. I booked flights online with Monarch and was offered a £15 discount off my next flight. A few emails came through and after the first one I just ignored the others as they seemed to be reminders to use the voucher by a certain date. Fortunately I am in the habit of checking my credit card bill and found £10 had been removed by them. I rang the telephone number given on my bill and it appears I have been signed up for membership at a cost of £10 a month. It was only when I looked at all the postings on your site that I realized this scam has been going on for years. Why on earth are companies such as Monarch and Easyjet allowing this sharp practice? Shopper Discounts have promised me a refund and say they have cancelled my "membership" but I am still getting annoying pop-ups on my computer that I do not know how to get rid of in spite of having a pop-up blocker. Anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of these?0

Hi all,
I'm glad I have found this as I have had five amounts of £8.00 taken from my account this year alone.
I will endeavour to look through my emails but suspect that I will not be able to trace them. I have though sent an email to their customer services address, as stipulated by them below.
As always, this is an excellent website.

Hi,
I have just realised I have been paying this company £8.00 a month for 19 months! The amount was showing on our joint CC statement but I assumed it was a payment my wife was making.
I phoned the company immediately and asked for an explanation. They told me I "subscribed" to their "service" in Oct 2007 by accepting a discount voucher after making a purchase on the Purley Gadgets website.
I stated that I had never received any voucher or benefit what so ever from my "membership" and would never have knowingly signed up to anything which charged a monthly memebrship fee. I demanded a full refund.
Initailly I was offered a £24.00 refund as good will gesture, I declined and said I wanted all my money back.
They have emailed me a form to claim back my "membership fees" I'll let you know if I get any money back.
This company is potentially commiting fraud, UK fraud offences have recently been revised to include virtually any gain obtained by any kind of dishonesty.
They should be exposed and any loopholes they are exploiting closed. Participating on-line traders need to be named and shamed.
Has there been any luck with forum members enquires with the BBCs Watchdog programme?
Regards,
