Thanks everyone -- What a lovely response!
Been up to North Devon as we had to deliver some furniture to DS and DDIL for their new house. We too DMIL as well so there were all the Mrs Gilberts' Senior, Middling and Junior with wool and needles clicking and hooking when there was a spare moment. it did make me smilE!!!!!!
Seakay -- Sorry you have been dealing with so much xxx
Anakat-- So glad you had a lovely time with your family and your items in blue are gorgeous!
F1 -- Keep on keeping on! So glad you are getting out! Slowly Catchee Monkey!
Jean-- Please do take it really easy -- I can imagine you are itching to get on but you need to give yourself the chance to fully recover before you start the " Sweatshop work!" Enjoy some spoiling and lots of hugs from us all xx
Pennypinchingmum -- A very warm welcome- Please pop in often xKathy-- Ditto the advice to Jean!!! I hope your back gets better really quickly.xx
Well my hook has been smokin! New Great Nephew or Niece due tomorrow -- It had better be a girl as I have had a complete pinky blast!
Lots of gentle thoughts to those with their hands full xTry and do a good deed every day.0 -
welcome pennypinching mum! As otheres have said there are lots of good causes to crochet for; a good place to start is thinking about where you would like goodies to go and go from there. im still an early knitter/crochetter so mine tend to be squares - some for loving hands, some for japan and some (bigger ones) for cats charity that had mums cats last year! Some do for babies born too early, hats for premies etc....always pleanty of need and a good excuse to buy more wool! (as if we ever need an excuse!).
Ok day here other than dentist where I was drilled and poked for 2 hours...a final appointment as a starter as not had a check up for a year!
Busy knitting a bolero for my cousin...took a while but eventually found a simple enough pattern!
Does anyone have a really simple lace pattern for anything..I want to conquer it but dont know where to start!
Roaming poor you but good that you feel bit better. ive been debating having one for years but not quite given up hope of one of those nice fellas Psso mentioned (if anyone spots one do let me know...bit sparce here although suspect seakay and I will fight for him if hes ever spotted!!
Love the blanket chalky! v colorful and we'd best hope for a girl then eh!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Back again, quick pop in before bedtime.
Jean - Hope you are following all the good advice, lots of rest, gently mobilising (hospital speak for toddling around slowly) and Keeping DH on his toes asking for cuppas & cakes of course. Got to keep your strength up.
Chalky - lovely blanket. You should have done what I did when DD was expecting his nibs. 1 pink and 1 blue and the `spare` one went to charity.
Lovely picture in my head of the 3 Mrs G`s doing their wooly thing.
ISOM- don`t give up hope of a lovely fella popping up. They appear when you least expect them, well mine did.
Well off to try and get some sleep. The wind is howling round the house so I`ll have to pull the covers up round my ears to block it out. Trees uprooted, branches blown across the roads, neighbours fence blown down. What a nightmare, and it`s supposed to be like that for a few days yet !!
Night night.

Mrs Moneypenny – hope your blood work all came back clear?
ISOM- Love the spinning you did, great to have a new craft
F1- fantastic that you managed the great outdoors – more than once too! PULEASE do NOT post your ironing pile – it might turn into a contest and I just know I would be the outright winner – it did resemble a mountain but now it has transformed into a volcano!
Sock-Knitter you really have been pushed around I just hope that you are all on the same page now and getting it sorted – perhaps it was a good job I was missing during the diatribe that the SS sent you, I could have been banned for the language content!
PIPPA.S – I hope you and your DH had a calming break down at the caravan – the only drawback is the washing/ironing etc when you get back, but then there is always the NEXT visit to look forward to.
MAYTAURUS – love those sparkley postings .....they really cheer me up – hope you are well and not trying to run the marathon this week at least
PSSO – do you really have to find so many jobs to keep you busy? Take time to smell the roses (or any other flowers for that matter)
KINSEY – see you popped in too.
SEAKAY – hope you have a great day
CHALKY – love the blanket PERHAPS when I become a far more profficient HOOKER I will have a go with one of them. ALSO can I be the LAST (number 1000) member of the KYSTGYSES – AM trying really hard to work out how to pronounce that one!
MOILIERE- I really wanted to send instructions for the spready to you before I went MIA, so I will get time today on the big pooter to alpha sort etc for you, will change the collumn colours so you know I have been and gone and done it! ALL FIXED NOW
I see I have missed a load of you – and for that I am sorry, can't sit for long and have cobbled this up on a word doc a little bit at a time, so I know I haven't managed to include everybody, I willhope to go back through the postings but whether my pea brain will take any notice is another matter!

Lovely to have so many of the "gang" onboard-- The Emergency squares project!
My idea was just for each member to tuck as many 6" squares as they want to make away at their own homes then if any of us see a worthwhile cause we can give a "SHOUT" on here. Then if it is something that each member wants to support they can immediately send their squares off to provide a rapid response. If it is not something that the individual member wants to support they can just keep their squares until the next shout.
To be honest it is just lovely to see us doing something together and I hope it will encourage some MIA'S to come out to play!
Thanks for the enquiry Mrs M and I hope that makes sense!

Hi everyone
I've finally found the time to sit down at the computer, although this will only be a quick session because my back still hurts; it's getting better but slowly. I'm just thankful it's not a slipped disc - having had one of those, I would hate to have another one!
Jean - I hope you're taking it easy but thanks for sorting out the spready - I'm just about to do the update. I would have done it this morning but we're having phone problems again; this time it's the batteries that have run out of a new cordless gigaset phone that we only bought last year. I've trawled all around my corner of France and can't find the particular ones we need. Of course, they're not standard, are they? Anyway, I got that cross that I've emailed the makers of the phone (Siemens) at their head office in Germany to see what they can do! I'm not holding my breath but you never know! Due to the wonders of the French internet system, I have to have one phone for making calls (that ones OK so I can call people), and one for taking calls. It's that one that needs new batteries. I can receive calls only if I switch the phone connections around, so it's all a bit confusing!
Chalky - the blanket is gorgeous, and such lovely colours! Has the baby arrived yet?
Shaz - thinking of you and hoping that life is a little better these days.
Mrs Moneypenny - no news definitely sounds like good news!
Elaine - a friend has emailed to say that the weather has been horrendous in Surrey, so heaven only knows how bad it's been in Scotland. I hope it's all calming down for you. It does sound awful. Keep warm and safe.
Well, I shall go and do the update now.

F1 - I've just been going through the last week's posts and I saw your lovely news about the new babies! I am so sorry I missed it all when you posted; that's what I get for speed-reading! That is one heavy baby; what an eye-watering weight! I hope all are doing well.

which is a chunky.
Question is that Ive assumed that I need more stitches so have added 50 - so effectievly doubles it. Its for a shrug so doesent need to be exact but do you think 50 is about right?
Hi ISOM! You need to look at how many stitches per inch the yarn you are using knits up to, then see the length of the cast on edge in the pattern (or work it out by seeing original number of stitches in the suggested yarn, seeing what that yarn knits to and working it out) and then work out how many stitches in your new yarn equates to that length.
Hope that your recovery is swift and easy Roamin, and it's good to have you back with us.
Hope that your back becomes less painful very soon Mioliere
Fabulous blanket Chalky, really pretty! I think that it is pretty unisex myself.
Love and hugs to all and welcome to all out new knitters - great to have you on board!0
