not to take the thread too off-piste, but been NYC only ever once and we stayed in Brooklyn - it was 100% for us - not a fan of NYC really but loved Brooklyn

Fully recommend Franks Prime Meats - one of the best steaks I've ever had! :) and 200th Fifth Sports bar bar is a great hangover place :)

    Staying off piste (sorry all).
Any particular recommendations for hotels in Brooklyn?
I accept there's all sorts of variables but let's say £100 per night as a start.

I've just booked us Dublin to Montreal, return JFK to Newcastle for my 40th next March at a price I couldn't ignore (£284pp) planning for the last two nights to be in NY.

And I've not told OH yet but my treat to myself is tickets to NY islanders game at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the last night (just bought them before posting this). So staying in Brooklyn would make sense.

Back on piste and just for anyone looking for flights from 'the regions', I doubt I'll consider a NCL departure again while I can get the prices offered from Dublin to anywhere in the US. Our placement flights and hotel comes to less than £200 which gives a total of under £800 for two returns. Similar story (ok slightly more than this but still a huge saving) for our Vegas flights earlier this year.

does'nt work although i havent tried it , according to the experts on tripadvisor its just an urban myth

I've used it at the Venetian last September. Got us a room with a much better view than the one we had originally, a voucher booklet (which we didn't use) and got all the resort fees for our stay taken off.

So much for the experts then :D
(It's one of those things that works better for some people than others -if people demand it they tend not to get it whereas a bit of chat and a smiles helps :D)

Back to our own experts- I'm trying to sort out my MyVegas stuff for Red Rock and Green Valley -and I know it doesn't come out of my 4 in 30 days MGM allocation and it's a max of 2 a day at Station resorts - but is there also a monthly limit on the number of rewards at Station (and I presume all limits are for all station properties and not per property) ?

Duchy, I believe it recently changed to one room reward per person.

The others are still two per 24 hours as far as I know, but it may be a case of reading the individual terms on the reward to find out exactly.

Last month I used a night stay at Sunset and then next day a breakfast buffet, then a lunch buffet (different day) at Red Rock, so 3 total with no problems. Not sure if there is a max per month I wasn't aware of one and would have used more if it had fit in during our stay. Really thought lunch buffet was very good at Red Rock.

    Yes it did

Station casinos are a partner though so shouldn't come out of the 3/4 max .....I think (but may have their own max within it)

I'd suggest Holiday Inn Express Brooklyn on Union Street. A nice walk 12 blocks along 4th Avenue to Barclays Centre. 4th Ave has lots of nice shops, coffee places, restaurants etc. and is in the immediate areas of Park Slope and Carroll Gardens which are both very nice Brooklyn residential areas. It's also got a Subway station right outside for easy access to Manhattan. The R goes directly to all of: South Ferry (for Statue of Liberty), Cortland St (for World Trade Centre Memorial), Union Square, 34th Street Herald Sq (Macy's), 42nd St (Times Sq), 5th Ave/59th Street (Central Park/Bloomingdales).

We stayed at Super 8 Brooklyn - http://www.super8.com/hotels/new-york/brooklyn/super-8-brooklyn-park-slope-hotel/hotel-overview - checking on google maps it looks similar distance to the Subway as from the Holiday Inn Express mentioned above, and to be honest we stayed there for much the same reasons as ajdj.

We liked it as it had big rooms (and a fridge in every room), free breakfast (FWIW), free wifi etc :) - few years since we stayed there, but it was fairly cheap at the time too (and new) :) a really good base!

... and to keep me on-topic, here's a pic of Vegas from our trip a few weeks ago :) - there are no prizes for guessing where it was taken from I'm afraid!!! :):D:D
