Hi all,
This, I hope, will keep me on track.
I'm on the 2008 new MFW thread too, but this is my record.
I have a pig - le cochon - acquired whilst living in France. Can't work out how to show you a pic, so you'll have to trust me - he's gorgeous!
My mortgage is only £15k, but I'm on a low income, so I need to be rid asap. I plan to overpay monthly using travel expenses during term time, and money from le cochon in school holidays.
Made my first overpayment yesterday - £500 which I had been saving up from before Christmas. That's quite a big chunk of £15k, but I don't think I'll be able to maintain that level of payment!
So watch this space - feel free to bully me if I lose the plot, and I'll be glad of your encouragement if I manage to keep going!
Thanks for reading this,
PO xx

Hi poppyoscar,
Another MFW diary. Welcome to the fold.:T
Just wondering if you've a date to aim for?
I've put pics in these forums before - I'll try and post later with some details - time permitting.

Hi FB
Thanks for your warm welcome!
I'm not really sure of my overall MF date yet as i really don't know how much my monthly bills are going to be. I've only been in a month and so have no idea about gas and electricity etc, and as I have been out of the country for 8 years, I can't really base it on my old bills!
However, I would hope to be MF in 5 years. I'll know in a couple of months if this is realistic or not!!

Hi poppyoscar,
Adding pics to the forums isn’t too difficult a task. Basically, all that is needed is some on-line space to store and reference your pictures.
I use photobucket.com (free), seemed to be reasonably popular on these forums, but there’s others out there, both free and per months costs.- Register an account with your on-line storage provider – I’ve used my MSE forum id here. Typically, you’ll also need an e-mail address, and I’ve got a financialbliss e-mail address too.
- Upload your pic(s) to on-line provider.
- Once you’ve done ‘2’, you should be able to view the html link you need to paste into the forum in order that the image is displayed when your thread is viewed.

Ah, if you're looking for something around the five year mark, you really want to be aiming for 12/12/12
Ok, it's 4 years, 10 months and 8 days away (1,773 days) as of today, but that's what I'm aiming for...!

just got confirmation from the halifax that i have made my first overpayment of £500, with the due reduction off the term
which is good to see
BUT there's been a £10 admin charge added
they didn't tell me about that, although i'm sure it'll be in the small print somewhere
i never read small print
will be making sure it's a decent amount i put in every time now!!!!!!
you live and learn

i have been pondering this £10 charge - a friend of mine who also has a halifax mortgage has said he hasn't ever been charged for overpaying.
only difference as far as i can work out is they altered his monthly payments, and i asked them to reduce my term. could this be why?
any ideas??
or maybe he just didn't realise he was charged, although i doubt this as he's pretty savvy on all things money!!!2010 MFW Challenge No. 112 Mortgage paid in full 27/08/10 I was MF!!!

and if i do have to pay £10 each time, what amount do i have to pay in to make it worth it by the interest i'm saving?
just cant figure out the maths!!!
happy to try to work it out if someone can tell me a formula with interest rate, outstanding amount etc etc. just don't know where to start!!!2010 MFW Challenge No. 112 Mortgage paid in full 27/08/10 I was MF!!!

Hi folks
March already!
I have put aside £261 initially as my March overpayment, bringing my total to £761 for the year. Well on target for the £2000 this year.
Planning to have a cheap month (:D again!!:D ) so may be able to add a little more as the month goes by.
Only expense is flying to Bordeaux next Saturday to get custody of my cat - already paid for so hopefully won't incur too many more expenses, but going to have to start budgeting for cat food again! Will be worth it to have the furry bundle of joy here after 7 months apart! I hope he appreciates that the reason I have a mortgage at all (wouldn't have needed one if I'd bought a flat not a house with a garden!!) is because of him!!! lol!!
Anyway, have a good month and feed those pigs!!!!!
