B&B Internet Saver 2 - 6.40% AER - Confirmed

Picked up a rumour that Bradford and Bingley are launching another version of their recent Internet Saver on Friday that will again be paying 6.40% AER.

Looks liken this could be the best account around with all the rates dropping since the base rate decrease.

Will keep an eye on their site and put a link up on Friday if it launches.

that seems a bit crazy since they closed the last one ,and have reduced the rate to 6.15% .But thanks for the tip anyway!!

If this proves to be correct, and the 6.4% Internet Saver 2 appears at the end of the week, I presume there should be no problem in opening one of these and switching in the entire content of an Internet Saver 1 which is now down to 6.15%.

Please correct me if I'm wrong!

had no problems last time, providing that 1) when applying for new online account make sure you are not logged in 2) enter one of your old account numbers during application 3) choose first payment on new account as cheque (with arbitrary figure) and finish application

the account then appears next day alongside your other accounts with inter account transfer option

In a sense shows how desperate they are getting for NEW monies, I've transferred my ISA ("pension policy") out (to a very big bank) but quite happy to carry on with accounts where I can remove monies quickly, keeping a eye out on the news/forums

impression that was given in todays daily mail was that the postal account rate was being increased to 6.40 ish % as well as heritage bank rate being increased to 6.45% ish rate. ( mail may have got it wrong)

How stupid is that? I have just transferred most of my money out of the 1st issue as it went down to 6.15%,into the Northern Rock. The account wasn't around for long last time and it won't be this time but they seem to continually open new internet ones( my mum has one now down to 5.80) Why can't they just have one good one with a good constant rate

one things banks are definitely not is stupid .. definitely a "marketing department" push after instructions from "above" to bring in much needed NEW monies

Another question for you PauliPauli (or anyone else!)

Why (3)? Is that just what you did last time and it worked, or is there a reason why transferring a payment from your linked current account will take longer than sending it by cheque?

Oh, I suppose you've got to wait for them to set up the DD before you can do the transfer. (Wish I'd thought of that during the application!)

Just did my application (didn't specify a linked account during signup.)

The account should be up by tomorrow on login and transfer from old to new saver will be instant

Can setup new linked as needed later

Yes, I didn't specify any linked account and gave an arbitrary figure of £1000 cheque deposit, last time account appeared next day with my existing accounts (for inter transfer)
