Weekly Flylady Thread 6th August 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

Following requests to start things steadier for new members who did not realise the tasks list wasn’t a must do, just an encouragement. There will now be level 1, 2 and 3. Level 1 being very basic it has been requested that this is just one task per day, level 2 in the middle, up to 3 which is more advanced and time consuming. If you want to do level 2 you add the tasks on level 1 with the level 2 tasks, if you want to do level 3 you add the tasks on, easy peasy. Choose a level to aim for but be realistic, if you’ve got a busy day on or are just starting etc aim for level one, if you get higher then great, if not then not to worry its only suggestions. Every room comes back around next week. Trust me some days I'll only be doing level one myself.

THESE LISTS ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS AND NOT A MUST DO LIST, ALWAYS WELCOME TO POST AND FOLLOW YOUR OWN.

Also adding a declutter mission each day. Another one where it’s up to you if you want to do it or if you need to. This follows requests from members who are looking to declutter. Fling boogies, hotspot clearing, cupboard sorts, drawer sorts etc will all be on this list. Any problems with this of any suggestions do please let me know.

A few of the basics before we start the week

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

Ok here goes this week, August already, scary!

Manic Monday - Kitchen and Dining Room
Level One
Clear and wipe kitchen surfaces
Level Two
Clean floors
Clean cupboard door fronts and the front of appliances
Dust any extra furniture in dining room, checking for cobwebs on way round

Tuesday Living Room, Hall and Stairs

Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean TV, other electricals and cabinets
Level 3

Tidy shoes, coats and bags
Vacuum under furniture (only if you won't hurt yourself doing it, don't want any injuries)
Extra Mission:
Pick one or more of the following tasks –
  • Clear one hotspot, or just spend at least 5 minutes tackling it
  • Clear one shelf, dust and replace items after giving them a wipe over
  • Clean a window in these rooms, only need to do one but you can of course do more if you like
  • Using the idea Shirley suggested, get yourself a bag or box, go around collecting things that are not in the place they should be, then put them back where they should be. I did this last week and had 4 bags, one for each of us, once they were filled they were all given their own misplaced things to deal with :D

Vacuum floor in bedroom and on landing
Level 2
Remove bed linen and replace with frsh linen

Level One

Level Two
Clean bath, toilet and sink
Clear any clutter from desk
Dust PC and desk
Wipe keyboard and mouse (these usually have more germs on than your toilet so important)
Level Three
Clear clutter from floor
Wipe down tiles in bathroom
Clean shower screen/curtain if you have one/if required
Extra mission:
Pick whichever you want to attempt
  • Wash your bathroom mats
  • Sort a wardrobe or part of, a drawer or set of drawers making sure it has what needs to be in it and any 'extras' are put where they should be.
  • 15 minutes paperwork sorting!
  • Clean windows in these rooms
Friday - those frightning Friday kids rooms and spare rooms

Level One

Vacuum the floor, even if it's just where you can get to
Level Two
Put anything that isn't in it's place where it should be
Level Three
Dusting
Strip beds and replace with fresh linen
Vacuum Floor (even if it's just where you can see)
Wipe any sticky marks off walls and doors
Extra Task List

As usual pick any one or more of the following if you fancy an extra challenge today and are still alive after entering the kids rooms!!
  • Clean any door frame and door, inc the handles
  • Time for the Friday Flylady Fling, aim for 27, if you can't find that many, well done, you are obviously making a difference
  • Storage area sort, sort through any one neglected dumping ground
  • Clean any one (or more) window that needs doing

Apart from the dailies and night time routines that's the lot for the week, of course if you still want to join us over the weekend you are more than welcome

FRIDAY EXTRA - Don't forget your ME time this weekend, even if it's just a nice relaxing bath or catching up with an old friend, go on you deserve it :T
One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200

Wow - where did that week go? I must be getting old now, cos I remember my mum saying this all the time when we were little, and now I seem to be saying it on a regular basis (making mental note to stop drinking three bottles of whisky every day - only joking - I'm T-total). Anyway, I'm looking forward to another week of flying. :)

I've made up for my lack of flying for the last couple of days, by spending all afternoon cleaning the windows, which you can at last see out of (unfortunately, it also means that people can now see in too, so must make an extra effort this week to clear up mess visible from outside lol).

Happy flying everyone, and thanks for the list again lil_me.

Sexy-and feeling quite chuffed with her flying today-mouse. xx
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I have been really lapse this last fortnight. I have had no energy and have generally slobbed around doing very little.

From tomorrow i will be attempting to rejoin you all, and regain control of the clutter, do me a favour...... if you see me slipping....give me a much needed kick up the jacksy!

Spag bol int he AGA for later in the week, kids still playing in the garden, I find bedtime gets later and later in the hols especially when it is hot and sunny. Plan to do some ironing in a minute. We think we are going to go to Legoland tomorrow so I will miss kitchen day - can't be bothered with it now - will see how I feel tomorrow evening

lil_me - thanks for the list again :j and hubby didn't buy the doorlock today oh well his loss :rotfl:

heavenleigh - congrats on your pregnancy - I am the opposite to you - 33 1/2 weeks only 6 1/2 to go

dustykitten - do you`live close to Legoland ? We are in Reading and have season passes, my kids love it (so do I :o )

Good grief its been boiling today, far far far too hot, unbearable actually. I got most of the things on my list done despite the heat. I did get 2 massive loads of washing dry on the line though so that was good.

    Have done:
    - stripped kids beds, washed, dried, remade
    - 2 loads washing done, dried, put away
    - done basket of ironing
    - tidied kitchen
    - did lunch for everyone and cleared up afterwards
    - had a lovely nap for half an hour upstairs in the cool
    - finished letter to my Dad in hospital
    - washed baby car seat and base
    - took DS and his friend to birthday party and stayed to supervise
    - tidied playroom

Had 2 arguments with hubby, both made me cry, he ended up feeling guilty and not only cooked tea which he had already started anyway, but he cleaned the kitchen afterwards and loaded and put on the dishwasher :)

DS has come out with chicken pox, DD had it 2 weeks ago on holiday so it was inevitable. I'm relieved actually, at least they have now both had it before baby comes and before DS starts school, both of which happen in September. The only downside is he can't go in the creche at the leisure centre and I had them booked in twice this week for a bit of sanity for myself.

I want to try and get my printer sorted out tonight but it will mean looking online for drivers etc and hunting for a cable and I'm not sure I can be bothered. Hubby is playing on the Xbox so I can't watch telly, so maybe I should just go and sort the blooming printer anyway. Yes, I think I shall.

    Speak later,
    Jillxx

    (((huge hugs))) Jill,
At 33.5 weeks pregnant you deserve a medal for even attempting to tidy up.:T
The arguments with hubby are par from the course and what you really need are some shocking comebacks that make him feel really guilty (and from experience it doesnt matter if you fib) make the most of being able to make them feel bad whilst pregnant because for some reason when bubs arrives they think your hormones etc magically return to normal!
If all else fails hit him with something big and hard, and you will probably be let off with diminished responsibility!

Also close shave with the chicken pox, at least you have it out the way now, it's never nice but is always better to get it out the way whilst they are small.
