Does anyone know where I can find additional cover to an annual travel policy for dangerous activities ie paragliding and motorcycling (above 50cc) ?0

If you want travel insurance to cover your possessions, read the small print on 'allowance for wear and tear' very carefully. Lots of deals can look great but when you get into the details or try to make a claim, you can find that a huge amount gets knocked off if your items are not brand new. Most of my possessions aren't, but it'd sure cost me more than they're worth to replace 'em! I always double-check that possessions cover is on a new-for-old basis - these are becoming rarer. Tescos insurance has been the best to date (and very good when I had to claim on them) - renewal time this month, so hopefully nothing's changed...0

Great Prices, a lot lower than what you see on the High Street. As we travel to Germany for 6 weeks at the end of April which insurer on that list will give us a good price on 42 days cover. Most are for up to 30 or 31 days !!“Official Company Representative

Can anyone tell me what would be reasonable cover limits for a 2 week trip to Kenya for 2 people?
I've looked at moneysupermarket and a few others and there seems to be loads of policies that only differ by the amounts they cover you for.
What Cancellation, Medical, Liability, Personal Accident, etc limits should I be looking for?
Should the cancellation limit be more than the total cost of the holiday for both of us, or per person?
If I have personal possessions cover through my home contents, is it worth taking it out in the travel as well?
Thanks,

I'm 68, type two diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. All are monitored and controlled to 'Gold Star Standard'. My wife is 66, arthritic, has high cholesterol, high blood pressure and slight angina. the last three are monitored and controlled, once again to a 'Gold Star Standard'. We are members of an excellent primary health care centre.
We never travel outside E111 land.
We have an excellent understanding and control of our age related ailments and yet we are penalised as regards travel insurance cf. someone who has, for example, all the above and has not bothered with health monitoring i.e they do not know.
Travel insurance companies penalise knowledge and control and reward ignorance and a lack of control. Where is the bigger risk? Personally I think that they turn away low risk business such as us and unwittingly (stupidly) take on the high risk of ignorance.
Not withstanding the fact that we are relatively low risk we have decided to self fund this risk, we put £50 in a special building society account every month.
When we stop travelling we are going to have a hell of a party and drink a toast to the blindness and 'one size fits all' mentality of the insurance companies.

Found great insurance for over 80's with British Mountaineering Council!!! You have to laugh! They get you to join for £16 and then a trip to America cost my m-i-law £99 in addition. Not bad I thought.0

Anyone know the best offer for cover for up to 6 months at a time, for 50 year olds in Europe?Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Hi Martin - you used to recommend travelinsuranceweb.com and I have used them a few times and got a very cheap price.
I don't know if you found something out about them that stops you recommending them but I just got an email from them on Tuesday where they were offering a 15% discount on their annual policies - which cuts the price from 24.99 to £21.24 (Europe) and from £37.99 to £32.29 for worldwide!
Here's the link I've taken out of the HTML code in the email I've got if others want to use it!
