Hi, I think we will be in the same boat as you, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer albeit minor last July, had the surgery, had the radio therapy and is now on Tamoxifen for 5 years and is seen every 6 months so is constantly monitored. Most if the insurance Co's seem to exclude pre-existing conditions so it would appear that whilst she is not covered for cancer how you define other cancer related conditions is a mystery. I have type 2 diabetes with the usual related problems - high blood pressure - cholesterol all strictly monitored by my GP and the hospital but no doubt I will have the same problems. I am off to the US in September and a short break in Spain in June so am just about to start looking for annual insurance so any info would be appreciated.0 -
Although it's probably mentioned somewhere in this thread or on this site, please remember that some bank accounts and credit cards give free travel insurance. You have got to check the small print of course. My bank account gives me free 31 day per year European cover for me, my partner and my child, and my partner has a pre existing medical condition (although not a heart and lung one)

Hi to Magpiesnest, just to update you I bank with HSBC and they are offering Bank Account Plus which amongst other things gives you Worldwide Travel Insurance for the account holder and wife/partner. Cost is £12.99 per month but they have an offer where you pay half price for 6 months and then £12.99 per month, minimum contract is for 12 months and you have to go through a medical screening questionaire which in my case covered me for type 2 diabetes but didn't cover my wife who had breast cancer a year ago. I also tried Medici Travel who will cover both conditions for a years Worldwide policy for approx £234 so more expensive but we are covered. Does anybody else know if there are any other Insurance Companies that could offer cover for both conditions at a better price?0 -
going to Turkey next year for 2 weeks and i've got a bad back {having a MRI scan next month} and it hasnt stopped me working.. doctor thinks it's just a bit of wear and tear so I dont know if I should bother telling the insurance company.{have'nt bought it yet, leave it till 3 months before I go when I know scan is o.k and had ita while ago} .
Is Turkey under European insurance? I would prefer to know i'd be covered if anything happened to me but what crazy price could they come up with. i'm on a tight budget saving for this holiday. could'nt be 150+ could it? any advice would be gratefully recieved.

I don't know if you found something out about them that stops you recommending them but I just got an email from them on Tuesday where they were offering a 15% discount on their annual policies - which cuts the price from 24.99 to £21.24 (Europe) and from £37.99 to £32.29 for worldwide!
Here's the link I've taken out of the HTML code in the email I've got if others want to use it!

thank you so much for this link, I have just paid less than a tenner for myself and my daughter 2 weeks in Turkey, a third of what I have been quoted elsewhere! excellent0 -
I need to insure 86 & 89 year old relations for Spain for 10 days, any recomendations, I have been quoted really high prices (once above 85 it goes up and most companies won't insure that age) Thanks - Sue
Dont know if this helps but my parents use Age concern for their travel insurance requirements . When I enquired (I was fed up of the travel agents ripping my parents off) they said they would insure up to the age of 101 !! Hopefully they will still be gallivanting at that age too !

My mother needs to travel to Southern Africa on Tuesday for 2 weeks as a relative has died and I want to make sure she's got travel insurance should something go wrong.
Is it too short notice and how much would I need to spend? I'm also always worried about insurers as they seem to do their best to make sure that they don't pay out so what information needs to be supplid and how do you minimise your chances of not getting a payout?2007 Won Ipod 30GB Video Sold on ebay for £136.51

Hello.
I'm off to Toronto (hostel style) next week and will be doing a day of canoeing. I take it this is clessed as sports? I've looked on money supermarket but can only find normal travel ins or cover for winter sports - is canoeing a winter sport? The cover doubles for winter sports. Any advice would be very welcome?

I am currently having a nightmare with a delay claim with them.
Virgin Flight from Dubai took off, had fault and had to divert back to Dubai. 27 hours later, finally took off again, and landed back in UK 27 hours after supposed to.
They rejected my claim for travel delay, as they say plane took off on time in first place, then developed fault, so took off on time not delayed. I provided all paperwork from Virgin showing real delay of 27 hours, but they will not budge.
Barclays did pay out on the same scenario for my parents last year, so consider the implications of cheap insurance not giving you honest reasonable cover.0 -
Hi there,
anyone had any good or bad experiences with the insurance companies on moneysupermarket.com. My OH is very suspicious of cheap deals from companies we have never heard of. We were warned off some of the cheap pet insurance companies on the net last year.earn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0
