Weekly Flylady Thread 2nd April 2007

Options
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread, usually ran by Moggins but I'm just filling in temporarily. If you need help organising your week when it comes to housework, or just the motivation to do the dreaded housework tasks you have to do, come and join us, hopefully make it a little easier. You never know, you might start to enjoy it!

For those just starting, it does get easier each week, it may take you an hour to do the tasks set at frst but in no time you'll get it down to less than half that (ask the others they are the living proof) Don't try to catch up, if you join us on a Friday start from then, everything will come back round again. Noone on here is perfect, there are some days I don't get everything done, but as always I give it a good go! Some find it best to set a 15 minute timer for each room/part of the task.

A few of the basics before we start the week.

Hotspots are any areas which if one thing gets put there loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc

Nighttime routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

27 Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a binbag and whizz around the house finding 27 items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Right then here goes Monday bit of a switch for you, mainly because the kids are off school and I think it'll be better to do living room first, plus it'll take less doing as was only done 6 days ago :)

Manic Monday - Lovely living rooms, heavenly halls and SAFE stairs!

5. If the sofa needs a wipe do so, check those cushions incase they need a wash
6. Move anything that shouldn't be where it is, like that book, or pile of paperwork/magazines
7. Water any plants

Hall & Stairs
1. Cobwebs - can you see any, get them dusted off
2. Clear the way, make sure your hall/staris are not a safety/fire hazard, make sure those coats and shoes are tidy

    Righto, I'm in again. Should be a fairly easy one tomorrow as I did quite a bit of this anyway over the weekend. Only spanner in the works is that FIL is down to stay tomorrow night for a few days and I always feel guilty pottering off on my own for the evening when we have guests

    [STRIKE]Dust everything, get those ornamoents down, dust them, photo frames clocks etc too! [/STRIKE]
    Clean the living room window, it's summer time so let that light through! DH has promised he'll do this when he gets in tomorrow...

    Hall & Stairs
    Check fire/smoke alarms, make sure they work and if required change battery
    Vacuum throughout inc up the stairs, but take a cloth with you

    Just made my list for a full spring clean - think the list would be shorter if i detailed how to build a house from scratch!
    Still it should keep me busy if i don't have a job to go to after easter (very likely). So for this week i'm gonna try really hard to stick to the above list - even if we do have to start with the bloomin living room - so that at least the basics will be up to date
    Millions long for immortality who don't know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
  • Oh fab - thank Lil-me! I assumed it would be the kitchen so I made it all extra-specially tidy so i could get stuck right in, and got a bit ahead by cleaning the oven and cleaning the windows (got new microfibre cloth from Lidl - sadly excited and couldn't wait to use it!). All my own ironing is done, but I have to do the airing cupboard switcharound tomorrow - so i am clear for any baskets which might turn up. £15 earned for my little pot this weekend - very happy! :T

    OK - so serious business

    Dailies
    [STRIKE]Clean & lay fire[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]Make beds[/STRIKE]
    vaccuum upstairs (DH and his shoes!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) bother - knew there was something else.....

    Social
    [STRIKE]am - toddler group
    pm - meet with friend for dog/child walk[/STRIKE]
    all cancelled due to plague

    Other stuff that needs doing
    Blue leek seeds planted
    Yellow leeks in cold frame
    Lettuce in igloo
    Find someone to get hold of the mini greenhouse from Poundstretcher
    Baking: weetabix brownies (thank you so much this site - yum, yum, yum!), banana loaf and flapjack.

    Lordy - that all went off plan - made pea wigwam and did digging while DS2 napped, but none of the stuff I should have done, baked a very yummy and moreish but HORRIBLY calorific condensed milk traybake from the Nestle site instead of the normals. Hopefully weather will be good tomorrow

    Manic Monday - Lovely living rooms, heavenly halls and SAFE stairs!

    Living room
    1. [STRIKE]Dust everything, get those ornamoents down, dust them, photo frames clocks etc too!

    Hi All,

    Didn't do much flying last week or this weekend apart from swiping as I've been playing catch-up with my course work. Project due end March :eek: missed the deadline, as did most of us so deadline extended to end April ;) Also 2 assignments to write up neat and hand in also :eek: I will get it done :D

    Anyway will put more effort into flying this week as the house is almost back to "tip" status :eek:

    I've been good and twinkled the kitchen today.. hubby swept the floor so it is pretty bearable in there.

    I don't like doing the front room.. it's not fair and all that!!

    I've done about 200 loads of washing today, it at least felt like thta many!!... bed sheets can be hoiked in tomorrow I think. I've done the school coats as well so just the girly coats to do before the 17th when they are all disposed of again. This will be my middle boys last term at primary school and my number 4 girls last term at nursery.. why do they grow up too fast??

    Anyway.. my monday list will consist of the above mentioned bed sheets.. because I hate doing them and probably yelling, splitting up battles, making juice, making food, more yelling, some shouting and probably lots of bottom and nose wiping.. more of the usual then!?

    I'm having a cuppa and getting back to my nest.. see you all tomorrow!

    Morning all.

    Here's me, thinking it was going to be the kitchen - I wiped bench down thoroughly and swept floor last night LOL

    Then the dishwasher broke down :(

    Anyways - as per usual on a Monday, I probably won't get anything on the list done.

    Laundry - one load of towels on the line;
    DS3 gotten off to school camp this morning;
    Weekly menu done;
    Grocery list done;
    I'm presently at work.

    I'm doing a split shift today - will go and get groceries at lunchtime, take them home and unpack them, then head back to work about 3ish.

    Then home in time for dog obedience at 6pm; late dinner, shower and bed!

    If I can squeeze in some living room and hallway time, I surely will :D
