Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 30th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning Everyone - Hope we are well
Still in pain with my ear/head, Ive not been to bed yet, just dosed up on pain killers again, so I hope to hit the sack shortly.
Ive took all my Christmas cards down, cut the usual ones up to be used for gift tags next year, and the nicer ones, I will try and re-cycle to make my own cards for next Christmas. Just waiting for friends/family now to pass on their cards they dont want.
DLB if your up early enough to read this, leave your excess rubbish bags by my bin. Ive not got as much rubbish this yr, ref Christmas refuse. So you might aswell make the most of the availability. HTH
I finished my second lot of knitting, its only a scarf but Im impressed with the progress Ive made. My first attempt, came out a funny shape, but manage to save it and turn it into a bag, I brought a duffle coat style button today and sewn that on for the fastener. DD loves it.
Plans for today is to catch up with the washing again, take the decorations down, and give the house a good clean thru.
Store Cupboard & Freezer challenge, empty both freezers and use up whats allready in there, plenty of home cooked dinners to use up, and clean them out and re-stock with meat etc. Attempt to meal plan also.
I hope we are well this morning and I hope our weather improves, its chucking it down at the moment
Have a lovely day - take care & love as usual xxx

Morning Crazychik.
Gosh my throat hurts.
Got Mum and Dad landing at some point today. And the house isn't perfect. I have to sort out the bedrooms - specially ours. We're going to have to let m&d sleep in our bed to the room has to be extra clean. That should keep me busy. Unfortunately DH is asleep in there now, otherwise I'd be in stripping the bed!:D
Thought the drains might be blocked yesterday - luckily they seem to be OK. But of course that's another thing whirling round my brain at 3 in the morning.
Off to have a nose around the rest of the site
Take care:snow_grin
Oh - I may have got rid of something on Freecycle. It's the first time I've actually offered. (I've responded to requests before) Here's hoping it goes well"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Hope your feeling better peem ((hugs))Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0

Morning. Yesterday turned out busier than expected, so I had lunch at 4.45pm and tea at 8pm. Fell asleep in front of the TV, so the day was quite predictable.
I have to work this weekend. It's all fallen wrong really, I wanted to visit the sales, but I have been working since Boxing day, so have not had chance to buy anything. Probably a good idea? I do still need some new trousers though..

Morning all
I'm joining in with all the other insomniacs again. Went to sleep at midnight but have been awake since 1.30  Even Mr TM can't sleep so I gave up at 5.30, have had a cuppa, made brekkie, put another load in DW, looked at the state of my carpets and come back to sit in bed with another cuppa and my lappy. Watching an old Doctor Who on Gold and Mr TM is reading
Had a fab party yesterday. Started about 3pm and finished at 11. 11 adults and 13 kids, ate loads, most drank loads (not me, although I had enough) and the final guests were dragged home by their kids who were too embarrassed to watch them singing anymore. Mr TM on guitar and vocals, other dad singing and me and 2 mums dancing madly in kitchen :rotfl: However, kids had decided to view Mr TM's WWII memorabilia in his "bar" so I had mud trampled into carpets
So, today will mostly be spent cleaning up. I'd love to take the deccies down today but Mr TM likes them up till after New Year. Mind you, he's clay pigeon shooting today, so will see what I feel like. Hopefully my 2 will sleep till 9am at least, but I doubt it, so I'll surf on here till they do.
Ok peeps, have a good day and ((hugs)) to you sickies.

'Morning Crazychik, Peam, N6eav and all who follow :hello:
Hope everyone starts to feel a lot better soon (((hugs))) ... there do seem to be a few nasty bugs about.
We are really starting to get to grips with our finances. OH has taken on the task with a vengence. He's updated all the spreadsheets and is working on predicted costs for the year. We now have a big wall planner up in front of the computers and he is starting to put up key payment dates, birthdays etc. I've updated my bank account spreadsheet. My next task is to create a speadsheet which acts like a tighwad gazette price book. I did an actuall price book, using the main supermarket online sites but I tend to carry the prices round in my head. I want to be more acurrate this time and update the spreadsheet with the new costs etc.
Last year we concentrated on becoming OS and have really cut our running costs. This year we want to be more forward thinking.
I've just taken a batch of yoghurt out of the yoghurt maker and I'll be starting off a shoulder of lamb in the slow cooker shortly. We did the weekly shop yesterday, but we have so much food left over from Christmas that we only spent £10.62 and that included some reduced milk which we have put into the freezer for future weeks.
Have a lovely OS day everyone
'Morning Amie399 and Ticklemouse - it took me so long to type my post that you got in by the time I finished!Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Good Morning - what lovely weather we have to round off the year!
I hope those of you that are feeling poorly get better soon. Ears are particularly painful and misery making IMHO. Get well soon!
Today I am going to chill until 10am. Then have a flurry of activity before some friends who live in Devon come and see us - we only see them at Christmas generally although we went to see them this year in the Summer - so looking forward to that.
Going to use up the last of the Christmas veggies today in a Beef and Ale stew that I will put in the Slo Cooker, and then it can go in the freezer. Yesterday I used up some stuff in a prawn and rice spicy "thing" that I had for my dinner with another couple of portions for the freezer. Oher than that, a quick whizz through the downstairs is on the cards - upstairs can wait!
I started to shop around for phone/broadband access yesterday to see if I can get things a bit cheaper. I can reduce it so far by £10 a month which I didn't think was worth bothering with until I realised that it is £120 a year! So I will get that sorted today I think.
Have a good day everyone!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -

Morning everyone!!
Crazychik thank you ref bin xmas rubbish, i think i may have to pop a bag or two at the side of yours!!Hope you feel better soon.
And hope everyone else is starting to feel better.
Sister arrived yesterday, kids went into complete crazy mode, so had a banging headache by the time i went to bed.
They are all still sleeping so came down to make some quite time on here.
We are having a new years party tommorow, but us being THE MAD HOUSE (this is actually the house name!) decided to have a BBQ. The weather is really worrting me now, but dh has said not to panic as he will put the gazebo up near the back door if it is raining so we can still cook.
So far have 7 adults and 10 kids coming but also a possible 4 more.I must be madddddddd.LOL
Having 2 slow cookers on the go with mulled wine for adults and hot choc for the kids.
Need to get last few bits today.
Catch you all later.

Woo hoo!!!! onlly 9 posts - I'm off to read the thread and then as Arnie would say.....
"I'll be back"

Edit - would you believe it was hoping to get to read the daily before it got to 80+ posts that helped shimmy me out of my cozy bed this morning? It's lovely to see so many people on here - I often read but don't post with the daily these days, and often I don't get to the end, lol.
Big hugs to everyone who is feeling poorely. I'm with you on that one as the caps on one side of my mouth are loose, and since then I've had to chew on the other and it's set off tooth ache in that side. I woke at 3:30 am and nearly joined the insomniacs on here as it was soooo hard to get back to sleep.
Not a lot to report here really - ooh, except for those with a breadmaker. Doves organic wholemeal was on offer pre Christmas and I gave it a try - it makes the yummiest wholemeal loaf ever. I didn't think it could improve from the Carrs, but it has. YUM
The other thing is that I overcame my fear of my new kitchen toy yesterday - not my slicer, but the HUGE george Foreman that my Mum bought me.
The thing is I feel sickly guilty as she's spent so much on it - but it's not something I wanted. It takes up sooo much space (all that's left of my worktop really) and I'm struggling to think of any economical recipies to do with it..... (must be healthy & easy too).
I feel so bad about it because I know it must've cost a packet, and it's the most expensive thing she's bought me in years.
I did try a healthy version of 'chips' on it yesterday and they were lovely- but it took over 20 mins on 200 to cook enough for 2 boys.
Sorry, waffling.... I might start a thread asking for help on that one....
Anyway, bread should beep in 20 mins, DW needs emptying & tons of housework & homework to do.
I also need to check freecycle as I've asked if anyone has one of those plug in power & energy monitor things they no longer need.... fingers crossed.
Best wishes and hugs to everyone,
Love
