O/S thread for 29th Dec 2006

Options
Greetings.
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 29th December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning everyone.

I hope this finds you well. It seems to be a pretty bad weather day down this end, lots of wind and rain.
I succumbed yesterday to spending some money. I could not wait any longer. I had been working so could not manage the sales, but I felt the urge to go to ASDA and get some milk and bread, but could not pass up the chance to get some new work trousers in the sale. ...Then an impulse buy Homer Simpson mug..... then a chocolate snowman...all reduced. So spent far more than I had planned. but it felt good.

Got a £90 rebate from AMEX for cashback on my spends last year, so was very happy about that... that will go in the holiday fund for USA.

So not a bad day. Today, well I have work shortly then home for tea and TV. Not a very exciting prospect, I need to get out more...

Have a good one

    Good morning!

I packed hubby and children off to France for just over a week at 2am and then was unable to get back to sleep so got up at 3.30! I just hope it doesn't catch up with me too early as I have a day full of clients. At least being on my own means that I can slob in my PJs at a ridiculously early time this evening if I need to!

Our student lodger returns from Norway on 2nd Jan so this gives me a few days on my own to get organised post Christmas and to start on the efficiency that I have promised myself for 2007!

Hoping to get by without spending any money now for the rest of 2006. It is only 3 days but a good target me thinks!

I hope everyone has a good day.

As soon as we saw the trailer for the Swap Shop programme, both me an hubby both reeled off the phone number! Funny how some things stay with you for ever, but yet we can't remember where we put the car keys!!

    Morning everyone!!

Up early again just cant seem to sleep in past 6am!!

Well got lots to do today, sister is arriving from wales this afternoon, she is staying until sunday morning, so need to make up spare beds.
Need to shop for food for new years eve party/bbq, and get money out of bank to sort out the bills which are left to pay.

Feeling really positive today about my debt situation, i sat down yesterday and worked out when things will be paid off, 5 debts will be gone by May i really was over the moon when i worked that out!!

Intent to make jars for saving up the change and a money saved since stopped smoking jar ready to start using on jan 2nd!!!

Tea will be beef stew and think i will make some onion bread in bm to go with it.
    Have a great day everyone!!

dlb - glad you are feeling positive about things today. Close your eyes, concentrate on that feeling and then put it in a finger. Then, on those days when you are not feeling quite so positive, touch that finger and remind yourself how you want to feel. Accessing positive feelings whenever you need them. And all for free!

Good luck with the smoking jar. why not put some sort of goal on the jar so you can see what the money is going towards. Whether it is a picture or a statement, something attached to the jar may help you to focus on your achievements.

    Morning everyone

I've got the flu, feel awful, don't know if I'm too hot or too cold. Have a cough that sounds like I'm at 50 a day. Not gonna hang around, sorry. Voice is working, I can say "aaahhhhhooowwwww" so am going to phone in sick - don't care that it's unpaid.

    Cheerio everyone.

Hope you soon feel better, SnowyOwl. Wrap up warm and make yourself a hot toddy.
