It's been announced that First class stamps are to rise from 28p to 30p on Thursday 7 April. If you’re going to need some, stock up soon on those which don't note the price, just say "first".

Thanks, I was told some years ago about stamps and price rises, so I'll stock up again. Cheers!0

A pertinent reminder - thanks Martin.
Anyone got any suggestions as to the best place to stock up. i.e. any shops that offer reward points that don't exclude stamp purchases?

Don't know, but I'll check at Tesco next time I'm there0

Surely the best money save is to use 2nd class. My experience is delivery almost always within 2 days, and its not unusual to get a next day.
Look after the pennies and all that0 -
Unfortunately i don't think ANY store's reward scheme is allowed to include stamps. WH Smith certainly don't give points on stamps, neither do my belove Boots.
I always make sure if i buy them loose in a Post Office to make sure they don't have a price tag on, as the oens in books generally don't have the prices.
Unfortunatley I have to use First Class for my Job Centre stuff, so can't beat the price rises by using Second.my advantage_card is like gold dush0 -
I may be barking up the wrong tree, but aren't stamps legal tender? If they are, would it be feasible to buy £28,000 worth of stamps the day before the rise, and 24 hours later they'd be worth £30,000 as legal tender?
A nice way to make over 7% profit in a day!

I agree. I sometimes doubt if the Royal Mail even bother to separate-out 1st and 2nd class, since they both seem equally fast.
It really irritates me how the vast majority of eBay sellers proudly specify over-priced 1st class mail, as if you really need everything to arrive in the fastest possible time.

Thanks Martin, agree with above, 2nd seem as quick as first in my experience.
