  • Yes all Newspaper coupons will scan... I use them every week!

Not sure how people get sooo many, I always use about £5 or so a week, more than that you must do some serious collecting (either that or you deliver free papers, use somerfield coupons, use lots of scanned/internet coupons).

There has been lots on Tesco possibly stopping accepting coupons because of people abusing it. My 2penceworth - I hope all the people using somerfield and scanned coupons will feel proud of themselves when their actions mean no-one can use coupons anymore. What you are doing is ruining it for everyone else. I propose that any threads like this should be deleted!

The problem is ....people are so greedy, they aren't happy just making a good saving every week.
  • Hi Darren, im not too sure what you mean by people defrauding Tesco's by using summerfield money off vouchers? My local Tesco's accepts them and the manager said they are fine to use just like its fine to use Sainsburys vouchers. Some Tesco's else where in the country may have a different policys and not accept them. So before you make statemements like that maybe a little more research is needed before making such remarks ;) I agree that people abusing the voucher system will spoil it such as people making their own vouchers and photocopying them and handing them over etc.

Ok I'm not an expert but I just don't see how Tesco's can cash somerfield or sainsbury's coupons. If you buy the product then that's fine as that's the whole point in why they accept them. Maybe defrauding is not the word - 'breaking terms & conditions' then!

I can say that I have read many threads on other sites where people who work for Tesco's have said that sainsbury's vouchers are costing them a fortune and they are getting very upset about this!

If I go into Tesco's and buy £50 of stuff and hand over £50 in somerfield vouchers, Tesco's are effectively losing £50!
  • Again...its not breaking terms and conditions accepting sainsburys or somerfield coupons because they ALLOW them!! , they are happy to accept them, It's all about competition and winning a new customer from their rivals, and this is one way they are doing it.

"Tesco's have said that sainsbury's vouchers are costing them a fortune and they are getting very upset about this!" - They put up BANNERS saying they take them!!! and I have even received email's from Tesco's stating they accept them. ..!

"If you buy the product then that's fine as that's the whole point in why they accept them". - No it's not! they accept coupons even if you haven't purchased the item (but must stock it) and that has been their policy, but it varies store to store.

"If I go into Tesco's and buy £50 of stuff and hand over £50 in somerfield vouchers, Tesco's are effectively losing £50!" - Can't be done most Tesco's will only allow 50% (varies again) at most off your total shop with vouchers.

Ok, I accept that this is regional thing and from what you say it seems that some Tesco's are happy to accept them (Stupid in my opinion!). As you say if this is to win people over then it is surely a short term thing.

I'm sorry but whatever you say about banners & emails saying they take them - I disagree. Nowhere on these banners does it say 'we'll take them if you buy the product or not'! The taking them if in stock policy is for manufacturers coupons.

At the end of the day I accept that this varies regionally but the facts still remain that 'overall' people using so many coupons is affecting other people because there have been so many posts saying this!

I still have my suspicions that if some Tesco's are accepting these vouchers they are doing so ignorantly.
  • I just wish some people would get upto date with things before calling people "fradsters" for using money off coupons which Tesco accept, its rather rude... especailly as you don't seem to know how it works. Tesco accept sainsburys vouchers and have done for a while now without buying the product (which you seem to know nothing about). Maybe it is ignorance but the fact is Tesco accpet them...end of story...!

I didn't call you a 'fradster', some may say using CAPS is rude! Tesco's accept sainsbury's coupons & scanned coupons & made-up coupons & internet coupons - I understand that perfectly - doesn't mean it's right tho!
  • Why defend Tesco?

They hold the biggest market share of all British Supermarkets and their profits are ASTRONOMICAL.

It's not like EVERY consumer that shops at Tesco knows about coupons, a VERY small percentage do!

I personally saved 4 pounds off a 5 pound shop today at Tesco, screw them, they still could possibly turn a profit on that 1 pound they made off me.

I totally agree, there is nothing illegal or wrong about using these coupons, if there was such a big issue they would stop them :)

i often buy coupons off ebay. lots of people are selling their pampers coupons, pampers recently sent out £4 in coupons and it seems not everybody uses them as a discount off their shopping. not all supermarkets will take them but i've found that asda and tesco will. i will pay up to £2 for £4 in coupons, at least i still save £2 at the checkout. i've bought cereal coupons and oatsosimple coupons this week but hubby told me off lol! he says it's people like me who create a market for these things, if nobody bought them then the newspaper delivery people would give the coupons out with the papers instead of selling them ... ooops, slapped wrist lol!

i don't know how some people manage to get 50% or more off, the supermarkets in my town are much stricter. asda will take up to ten percent of your shopping in vouchers, tesco will take up to ten percent but a maximum of 6 vouchers and they all have to be different.
