Hi there
I have just found out about the FairFX currency card and wondered if anyone has had one before? Anyone recommend it? Or not?!
Many thanks!

That's good. Am I right in thinking that it gives you a better exchange rate too?0

Only problem is that quite a few cashpoints restrict you to around $500 per day withdrawals as we found last year other than that it was really good.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

I had one for my holidays this year and it was great - a lot less fees then most normal cards, and a pretty good exchange rate. I ended up taking 2/3 of my spending money on the card and 1/3 as cash and I had no problems at all.

Got one a year or so back, used it in France and Spain. No hassle, recommended.
Exchange rates not the best but the flexibility of the card plus added security meant it was a great way of taking currency abroad with the ability to top up online any time you like.0 -
Thanks for all your answers folks. Just spied that you can £7.50 through Quidco too!0

I too would recommend - had one for US last year and took most of our spends on it. Ran out towards the end of the hols but simply went onto the internet and topped the card up there and then - no hassle.
If there are two of you I would recommend having a card each. As long as you initially fill up both with more than the minimum reqd for fee free then makes no difference in terms of cost and means a bit more flexibility.
And as it's mastercard you can not only draw cash out on it but also spend on it like a normal credit card.0 -

I wish I had known about these before - could really have done with it last year when I had my handbag stolen!
Are you aware what happens if it is stolen? Is it as easy to take money back off it as it is to put it on?0 -
I have recently been ripped off by Rynair, (I had Electron card)
however I had not subscribed to this card in time
so when I booked my summer holiday flights, £30 on top was charged:mad::mad:
hence I then quickly applied for a Fairfx card
have just booked 2 flights to Germany, saving £20 in fees
I would recommend this card, especially if you are booking Rynair flights0 -

Ryanair = grrrrrrr! I hate the fact that they're always the ones with the lowest fair despite their crazy charges and always the ones with the flights when I need them!0
