Hi one and all!! Please find below the original introduction to the original DFW running club.
Due to length we have had to start afresh but Fermi has agreed to post a link so the wealth of information that was avaialble for new comers and experienced runners alike doesn't get lost.
Please please, if you are new to running, don't be put off by technical jargon, We ALWAYS without exception welcome new comers and will give you all the support you need!!
And to the regulars, keep that help support and information coming guys! you're all stars.
At the request of several members here on the DFW board, I have pleasure in starting the Debt Free Wannabe Running Club! The idea being that we all have goals we wish to reach, some being financial, others being weight loss, getting fit etc.
So heres the place to get the motivation to do it!!:j
Firstly, Let us know what your goal is, Ie running a half marathon, being able to run for half hour without stopping, doing 30 sit ups etc then we can share progress reports, any training hints and tips and generally get a kick up the proverbial to get off the sofa and go do it!!!:rotfl:
(goodness knows i need a boot right now so could be accused of being slightly self indulgent with the thread!:T )
If there are enough people we could even do an evening or a sunday run.
We all know Gyms are/can be Mega expensive so here's the cheaper option and you'll get loads of support from us all.
So who's in?!
Have fun
P
xx
AND IN THE SLIGHTLY ADULTERATED WORDS OF STRICTLY COME DANCING>>>
KEEEEEEP RUNNING!!!!:D

Happy running all!0 -
JJwhittle,
No chance of me beating you today, not been out for a week, had some serious dead legs then on the way back about 5miles mark, left heel area started to hurt. Think it was the camber on the road, and me not running for 4 weeks.
So, a nice 47mins or less time was reduced to 54mins+ at a guess. Stopped about 4 times in the last mile to stretch it off, but as soon as i continued it was back again. Followed was a slow jog to the end. Pitiful.
The distance was 5.89miles i believe, from someones garmin.
Im up for the next one in 2 weeks time, though im going out tomorrow night, & getting back into this 3 times a week as im not going to be fit enough for the GNR.0 -

Its all miles in the bank, Alias, so it still represents a good workout.
I'm just killing time now before the race at 7-30. Done a 2 mile warm up but will wait for another 15 mins or so before a slightly swifter mile. Conditions are great though, its just started to rain right on cue.
Hope Krider is as lucky with the weather.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks for the advice about the formal intervals Rich; I'm more than happy to continue with fartleks for the time being
It was a gentle 4 miles for me tonight 00:40:18 (10:02/mile) - I've got a hilly run tomorrow and am going to go out first thing. It should be an interesting experience as it will be less than 12 hours after this evening's run.
Hope the races have gone well Rich and Krider!!2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Week 8/21 (Fleetwood)
Mon8/6 Rest Day
Tues9/6 10.0 Miles 1:23:39 (8:22/mile) (Pulse 76)
Weds10/6 Greenway 10K 39:23 (6:20/mile) (Posn 14th) [72.31%]
Although the 39 minute barrier wasnt broken tonight I am still quite happy with the outcome. The outward 5K was more of an incline than expected so halfway was reached in 20:20 in 18th position. The return journey took 19:04 (6:09/mile) with a climb up to 14th position so the most pleasing aspect was the feeling of strength building the more the race progressed. In fact the last 2K was covered at 5:59/mile.
The km splits tell the whole story of the nature of the course really:
Out : 3:55, 4:06, 4:02, 4:07, 4:10
Return: 3:49, 3:52, 3:51, 3:49, 3:42
All in all, some interesting positives have come out of that so cant complain.:D The bonuses being the highest WAVA rating so far at 72.31% and along the way the highest 5K WAVA rating so far at 72.31%.
Nice run, Simply - you'll be surprised tomorrow how you will probably feel better as a result of tonight's run, which is contrary to what you might intuitively expect. Enjoy.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
