Hi
My nephew recently installed Windows 7 on my PC, since then my ISP homepage takes ages to open up (I get a blank white screen first) does anyone have any ideas how I can speed it up?

No disrespect but if you are asking questions like that you should NOT be using Windows 7 - it is not a final version and not released until the last quarter of this year. You are using a pre-release version which is made available for testing only.0

You do also realise that the version that you have will expire at the end of August and it will become useless? You'll have to then revert to the original installation, and you could be in trouble if you don't have the setup discs.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

your nephew wants a slap...installing an unfinished and time limited OS on someone elses computer is, at best, irresponsible!
..as the the slow opening of internet pages, i really can't guess at the reason..I use 7 here (on my own PC) and it's lovely and fast.
I think my copy expires 3rd feb 2010 (RC1)Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
I put it on a spare system and ran it up.
Then I went "fine" and haven't used it since.0 -

Yeah, but it hasn't been "officially" released yet! :j Unless you are an MSDN or Technet subscriber? I heard something about the RC being valid for a year, so this would lead me to believe that the final version won't be released until sometime around then i.e. early 2010.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -

Windows 7 RC now available for download to the general public. I am downloading it now.
Corrected! [STRIKE]You need to use IE as it loads an activex program that acts as a download manager.[/STRIKE]
Download from here
Info on expiry here:-
IMPORTANT: The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to rebuild your test machine using a valid version of Windows before the software expires. You'll need to rebuild your test PC to replace the OS and reinstall all your programs and data.
Happy downloading:j0 -
I'm using Firefox to download it at the moment.0
