Best times for reductions in supermarkets

Options
What do people suggest as the best times / supermarkets for reduced bargains ?

My own suggestions are

5:15pm in Marlow Waitrose - meat and bakery
7:15pm in High Wycome Asda - everything is on the same unit - deli, dairy, fish, meat etc

If I could suss the reduction times I'd never pay full price again!

There doesn't seem to be a set pattern to it, sometimes I've been shopping and the reduced section has been crammed to capacity and I've eagerly trotted in at the same time another day and the cabinets sparce..it seems to be trial and error unfortunately.

Perhaps I should be bold and just ask next time I go lol

My local supermarket has reduced stuff out from 6.30pm onwards. By 7.30pm most of it's gone. The amount varies enormously - I did really well this week (lots of veg and a whole salmon reduced to £7), but some weeks I've found virtually nothing.

From what I have noticed over here in Northern Ireland, each supermarket just seems to do the reductions as and when required, there doesn't seem to be any set time. I think TBH it's just a case of pot luck :)

I think it depends from store to store. At the various stores i worked at there was never a pattern between the stores.

But general rule of thumb usually involved Bakery being reduced about 2 hours before store shut, Fresh Food started at about 1 - 2 pm (Meat, Fish etc).

What I did notice though is with 24 hour shops, they didnt have the need to reduce items as much, so i find the smaller stores better for RTC freezer filling. With 24 Hour shops though, they do tend to do the throw away at 10 - 11pm or so, so if you timed it right at about 9.45pm onwards or so you might get the very last of the days reductions. Reason being is that the evening shifts usually change at 10 - 11 pm or so for night shift restocking and they like to start with 'clean shelves' so to speak!

At the store i work for we reduce prices by 75% in the morning, by 50% at noon and down to 10p after 6pm. Unfortunately it doesn't always happen like this due to staff shortages and our human resources being put to better use in other areas of the store.

At the Morrisons where I work, various fresh food prepacked stuff (bread/milk/cheese/ready meals) are reduced first thing in the morning once all the dates have been checked.

In the evening, all the stuff that has been made that day, such as bread cakes and pies are reduced after 8pm.
