Bailiff notice

Options
Hi

I've had a bailiff notice hand delivered today about an outstanding council tax debt saying no further arrangements can be made, must be paid in 24hrs, this is for £200 (old reference number).

but rossendales told me the reason I'm paying £48 a month for another more current reference number (o/s debt £700ish) is because of the o/s debt previous reference?! so why are they demanding the lot now? i pay by net banking using the new ref, but after the email explaining the high repayments i took it that it was for both reference

I've left a message with the bailiff. I can pay the £200 but not til the end of the month. do u think he'll give me some leyway??

    dotstar,

Can tunderstadn the situation here but you really need take a bit of time.

Firstly, have you let the bailiffs into your house at all.

Do you have the name of the person delivering the letter. Whoi signed the letter?

have you asked the council for the amount on the liability orders?

What fees are you being charged?

This won't help, but this Rossendales is known for this. Might be worth you Googling to see other instances of this, for further reference/help, too.

I've managed to get £100, dont ask how. i hope he'll accept this now and the rest at the end of the month.

So how much was the debt on the liability orders?

You know they can only charge £44 in total, however many times they visit and only if the bailiff visits not if he sends a minion?

    Ok

You get on but on Monday morning you need to ring the council and ask them how much they asked you to pay when they trook you to the court.

There will be court fees - £75.

Then find exactly what the bialiffs are charging and post the amounts up here.

    Many bailiffs charge illegal fees

I didn't know this but I did know that they often try threatening behaviour. I once had a bailiff at my door for a previous occupier threatening to break down the door if I didn't open it!

Does anyone know if a debtor moves out of the country if a bailiff can be instructed in that country?
  • Be better you started your own thread, not hijack someone elses. Sensibly, as it will only confuse things for you and the OP. OP = original poster BTW. :)
