Ok - need some help with this!
I sold a bus which had been converted to a camper on behalf of my dad.
Sold it for £810 to a guy in Inverness. We live in west wales so bit of a treck for him to collect! Anyway, he did. Flew to bristol then train to us. A day travelling. Saw the bus, paid in cash, signed log book and drove away. hours later he brought it back to my dads and said he wanted a refund. The buyer would not give an explanation why so my dad said no. THe buyer then asked for a lift to train station and he went home. Leaving the bus behind and the money. In the morning my dad then went to move the bus and saw that this buyer had scraped it down the side and there was missing trim. After a drive up the road, dad found he had crashed in to a bridge........trim was lying on the road! The buyer never said a word. This buyer is demanding his money back saying we sold the bus with a fault. He wont say what the fault is! the logbook has no arrived back with him in his wifes name. We cant do a refund without meeting up and exchanging logbook - and he wont come back. Wont give a refund as he crashed it and will need to be prepared. This bus is his property parked on my dads drive - bit lost as to what to do. It has no tax so tempted to put it in a local car park and let the council take it away. This buyer has threatened to do a ebay claim but ebay have already told me that it is out of their hands - so he cant ruin my 100% feedback with a claim!
Any ideas?!

Call the local council and say a vehicle has been abandoned on your drive. They should tow it and, if no decent response from the owner, will scrap it.Can I help?0

Document everything you can, before & after photos, everything you can think of, just to be on the safe side.
I'd then inform the seller that if he does not remove his property within 7 days it will be disposed of / reported abandoned. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Yes he is the registered owner now and he has left his vehicle in your driveway. Call the DVLA or the police to have it removed.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

Make sure you document everything - before and after photographs, photograph of the crash site with the lost trim etc. Call the DVLA and explain the situation and they will probably talk to the buyer and if not they will scrap the vehicle. It is clearly not your property so you could just call the council and tell them it has been abandoned and let them deal with it instead of you going through the DVLA.0

thnak you - confirming my original ideas!
It is a unbeliable situation really - the money he has wasted travelling nearly a 1000 miles i would guess! and he has now lost his money and his property if he dosnt shape up quickly. We have been very good not to have it taken away over the last 2 weeks. Sold it to make space and although sold - still no space!0 -
I agree with everyone else - if the documents are in his name its his property - call your local council or whoever and get it towed away - say its been abandoned - or call police to say abandoned - whoever deals with it!
Its his fault. Why would he leave without the money? Sounds a funny guy to me!

Abandoned, Untaxed and other Nuisance Vehicles
An abandoned vehicle is one that has been left unwanted and discarded by its owner. Typically, it has been left unused for over a month, has no commercial or historic value, is in an unroadworthy condition, and displays either no tax disc or a tax disc expired by over a month. It may be considered by the Council to be dangerous if it has been destroyed by fire, is a wreck or is vandalised. It is an offence to abandon a vehicle, punishable by a maximum fine of £2,500 or imprisonment. The Council has a duty to remove abandoned vehicles.0 -

Although this jerk is trying to pull a fast one, I have to question when he brought the bus back you did not examine the bus, a missing trim is not hard to detect in what ever light there was, then you would have been able to point this out to the buyer at the time.
It is now your word against his that he damaged the bus, you failing to notice said damage does not help, he could say that he got a few miles down the road and it started to cough and splutter and thats why he brought it back to you and that you have actually damaged his property while you agreed to look at why it was coughing and spluttering, again its your word against his and to be quite honest I know if someone had purchased a vehicle from me I would have made sure it was fully examined even by torch light if they brought it back after taking it off my premises.Be ALERT - The world needs more LERTS0 -
Thats unbelievable! I would just say that you know about the accident and he damaged the car after signing so its his now & if he kicks up a stink just say that he is lucky you dont report it to the police as they may want to see insurance & would be interested in the tax situation. To get rid i would say you can use my pics if you want to ebay it again but you must mention the damage you did or i will tell new buyer!..he probably was in a bit of shock after accident but needs to own up.0
