Abbey business accounts

For a while now, there has been a warning on Abbey's website that there will be a security upgrade in the near future. Well, it's happening this weekend. This means no access to the account whatsoever (in or out). I saw no prior warning of this. Did I just miss it or does anyone know of any prior warning being given please? Seriously unimpressed that I would have effectively been barred from carrying out a cash business transaction - not that I actually needed to but that's not really the point.

Well the good news is that the site is back up. The bad news is that it's asking for a reference number in addition to my user name, password and mother's maiden name. It claims that Abbey have sent this to me. The trouble is, they haven't so I am unable to access my money. Conspiracy or !!!!-up?
Edited to add: Did the board really edit out the word "!!!!"? Grow up!
Clearly it did! Since I can't say !!!!, how about "kok"?0 -
Yes, I too couldn't get on to E-business-banking this morning (Monday 8th). This evening it's given me a new ID number or something [which I made a note of], it made me choose a new User name & pass number [it told me the one I chose was not 5 numbers even though it was...] and now, no matter what combination of new or old ID numbers, passwords etc etc, it won't let me log on. And now I've been hanging on for 27 minutes [and counting...] trying to speak to someone. Prize c0ck up & no mistake! I know I will end up hanging up -- all this b0llocks about "Thank you for being so patient - you're moving up the queue" but they don't saying long the ducking queue is!! (Make that 29 minutes...)Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Can't really comment or help, as I don't have a business account with Abbey, only savings, but maybe starting to implement Faster Payments has something to do with it?

Now there's a surprise -- after 40 minutes I finally got to speak to someone; he said they'd been inundated with calls; he said he would put me through to the helpline -- I then got about 4 seconds of the same ducking tune that had been playing for 40 minutes & then it cut me off...Expect the worst & hope for the best...0

Why is Abbey so bad? Surely being part Santander they must be able to do better then this.0

I have a business banking account with Abbey and when I went to check my balance this evening, I got presented with the new style login screens. Having entered my current details I hit "submit" and then get a "browser not supported" error. It would appear that my bank has completely ignored (or decided to dispense with) Apple Mac users. Where as I had full functionality of their website prior to the upgrade. So I try to access the website via a PC, the only trouble is I then get snookered at the "Card number or Personal ID" question which they claim that I have been sent but I have never received.0

Argh!
I'm in, but my Business Reserve account which used to be visible in the old system has vanished from view.
I *need* to make a transaction today, using money in the Reserve account.

An update on this. I finally managed to access my account late Monday morning so at least they kept THAT promise. I had to do an extra log-in though. So now I have altered my first layer of log-in to be the same as my user ID. I don't want too many different things to remember.
This morning however, I see that although the correct balance is showing under "balances", the figures showing on the statement are wrong. It looks like once the new style was implemented, the reset balances to zero. As some DDs went out yesterday, it actually shows a MINUS balance before I made a deposit. So according to the statement screen, I have about £700 less in there that I actually do. It looks like it's only a cosmetic problem though as transactions have been allowed to happen even though I have no overdraft facility.
On the PLUS side, I see that they have finally implemented something that I've been nagging them about for the last two years. They are now showing payment references in real time for incoming BACS payments. For customers who pay this way, I give a unique reference number based on house name/number and postcode so that I know who has paid. Until now, this reference number has only been visible to me after the 1st of the following month. As I give a frequent repeat service, I occasionally didn't know if someone still owed me or not on a subsequent clean. I could usually tell by the name and the amount but some surnames are duplicated (e.g. Smith, Jones) and if the amount charged was the same, it could be a problem. This has held me back a bit from pushing BACS payments. Now I can market that I accept BACS payments from all customers who wish to pay this way - saving them postage costs for a cheque. This is a great help as some people just don't have cheque books and I don't do doorstep collecting.
I would like to think that my regular nagging helped a bit to get this facility enabled but they have probably been getting earache from a lot of people over this issue.0 -
