Mostly stuck to the plan last week, although had half a Sweet & Sour Chicken from the Chinese last night as I really wanted a wee treat. This week it will roughly be:

Sat - Chicken & Leek Pie with Cabbage/Turnip
Sun - Roast Chicken, Yorkies, Mash and Veg
Mon - Chicken Omelette with salad
    Tue - Chilli & Rice
Wed - Pasta with a Tomato Sauce & Garlic Bread
    Thu - Sausage & Mash
Fri - Corned Beef and Cabbage (or something like that)

Lunches will be home made soup and sandwiches/rolls most days.
  • I am going to try and do this and stick to it this year. I did it on and off last year but when i did do it, i found it worked so well and saved so much waste and pennies!!

So here is my plan for this week -

Sat - Takeaway :o Got some quidco money back so promised DH

Sun - Roast Turkey with all the trimmings, my butcher sold me the drumsticks off the birds he crowned at Christmas, they are huge and he charged me 70p each :T

Mon - Pie, Mash and Beans

Tues - Pasta Bake and HM garlic bread

    Weds - Bean Bake HM

    Thurs - Burgers and Chips

    Fri - Chicken chassuer

Lunches will be leftovers or snadwhiches

I am using up some of what is left in the freezer in some of the above, my aim is to run the freezer down then build it back up and have it full of mainly Homecooked food, apart from the odd emergency stand by.

I'm out today but will be sorting the freezer out either this evening or tomorrow morning, then will be meal planning.... hopefully won't need to have a food delivery til next weekend, or pop to the supermarket next Sunday... here's hoping!

This is my second week for doing this, and my SC is going to be used 4x this week.

I did write it out yesterday and then went shopping, but as soon as I got home I changed the order a bit:

Friday: SC baked chicken, left over potatoes, brocolli and gravey
Saturday: was going to be burgers, chips and gravey, but have changed that to the burgers to chicken as it is devine !
Sunday: Boerewors sausages, roast veggies etc
Monday: Chicken & Mushroom casserole (ex freezer)
Tuesday: SC Spagetti Bolognaise (need to make new freezer batches)
    Wednesday: Pasta Bake
Thursday: SC Beef casserole (need to make new freezer batches too)

And on Monday, I will make up a new batch for the freezer of SC veggie soup, as I have found that I have been eating far too much bread because I don't have anything substantial at lunch time.

No particular plans as such but bought a couple of large steaks for £3 in total which went into the freezer and just about to finish the last bit now. Cut the steaks up and got 5 meals out of it.

Usually look in the fridge which is always stacked with vegetables and knock something up with the leftovers. Been having bubble and squeak on a weekly basis, and have a lot of the bulkier foods to supplement the main dish such as jackets, rice and spaghetti.

There is always stuff in the freezer too including some chicken livers which will last a couple meals there too, but we never spend much in the shops.
