I got my phone this week, no option to provide details that I'd be porting my number prior to order...
I phoned Orange (once I'd tested my phone and decided to stay with the contract thus using the phone & sim) and asked to port my number - not called Mobiles.co.uk to tell them - nothing to tell them I had to?
No problems at all...
......?It's not just about the money0 -
its only when porting to vodafone apparently0

My advice for anyone having any problems with mobiles.co.uk is to copy in the Chief Exec team of the carphone warehouse plc and ask them to advise.
Such a shame i had to go through all that
a response from cpw.
Dear Mr Roberts thank you for your email.
I can confirm that when we received your email, this was escalated to our internal contacts at Mobilles.co.uk. We were advised by them that your query would be investigated by them and that you would be contacted by them.
This email is to check that your query has now been dealt with by them and that your issue has now been resolved.
If for whatever reason the above actions have not been carried out, please reply to this email and advise and we can chase this for you.
Kind regards,

Let's not overlook the fact that the main reason for your difficulties isthe stupid restrictions that Vodafone put on PAC transfers having to apply at time of order - unlike any other network
the fact that you were unaware of this
you did not notify mobiles.co.uk that you wanted to move your number at time of ordering
Mobiles.co.uk must carry their share of the blame by not highlighting the PAC transfer info about Vodafone more clearly.
But Vodafone are notoriously difficult to correct retrospective PAC transfer errors even if they make them themselves, as I found out with 2 that went wrong in December.0 -
I admit i made a mistake, its just been the attitude of the staff towards me when i have only been asking for help that hasbothered me most.
on the other hand the cpw couldn't have been more helpful0 -
Hi Dolphins were you porting from Orange to Voda ?
Ayeup
No porting from T-mobile to Orange (Before the merger goes through - if it does)
Its gone through fine and my number ports on Monday
But going from the OP's original post it appeared there was a problem with his requesting to port and not letting Mobiles .co.uk know..
However if its just Voda being a pain in the proverbial then that sucks - surely there are some guidelines about that, anti competitive behaviour and all that....0 -

Thats what I was getting at ...the problem relates between mobiles.co.uk and Vodafone, which is why you didn't have a problem because your transaction was T-mobile and Orange. It's not just about the money0 -
Hi,
The cart states in big, bold writing that all Vodafone ports must be confirmed prior to placing the order, and that we need the PAC code at this point or a later port will not be possible.
I can't post an image but it's very, very obvious and does warn of the consequences of not entering the PAC code - again, next to the PAC code box is a link "Why is this important?" which explains it again.
Sorry that you were not able to port your number post-connection but unfortunately we are at the mercy of Vodafone's systems and are unable to help in this instance.
Please note that Vodafone can perform the port after connection but they will only do so in exceptional circumstances.

Thank you for your help and support through this though i never did receive any communications from yourself to my inbox,
I think the problem is that most of us in our 30's have been around the networks over the years, i have ported to and from every network bar virgin and never had a problem.
I think you could put this message on the envolope for vodafone contracts so that we are all well aware before putting the sim card into the phone.
Instead a generic instruction sheet was with my prder which advised me to do the following
1 call my existing providor for a pack code
2. order the phone
3 when phone is provided call your new network.
I just think that these instructions should not be with vodafone contracts thats all, as it is 100% misleading.0 -
I hope this situation is now sorted, but for everyone on the message boards sake i have a few things to say.
In the end i received an apology from the Carphone warehouse but not from mobiles.co.uk.
and ben never replied to any of my emails personally but the matter did get sorted, so thank you.
Ben do you ever respond to emails directly?Hi,

Fingers crossed it should be as you have the CEO at CPW involved and Voda are up to speed should be OK.
As you say shame it had to come to that.
I do think CPW deserve a good word for this though
Perhaps you win a prize if he actualy replies to you :rotfl:
Good luck with itIt's not just about the money0
